EXCLUSIVE: Saraki Infiltrates PDP Again, Plots Akpabio's Sack Over Ties ...You'll Be Shocked How Tinubu's 65th Birthday Thickens The Enmity
News Proof 10.4.17 No comments Edit Post
Having helped him to become the Senate President against the wish of his Part in an election described by many as a civilian coup, the skimmer Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki may have once again infiltrated the opposition Peoples Democratic Party, PDP once again. But this time with the aim to decimate it to enable him to clip the growing wings of the former Governor of Akwa-Ibom State, Godswill Akpabio as the minority leader at the Senate
According to Ripples Nigeria, the cracks in the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) caucus in the Senate, may soon break open and widen, as strong indications have emerged that the Senate President, Bukola Saraki, has launched a fresh offensive to decimate it.
Already, some members of the caucus, believed to be key loyalists of Saraki, are already calling for the resignation of the Senate Minority Leader, Senator Godswill Akpabio, Ripples Nigeria says
Their grouse is simple. They believe that Akpabio is using his position as Senate Minority Leader to shield himself from prosecution by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
The aggrieved lawmakers, who are about three in number, one of whom is currently in a running battle with the EFCC, is reaching out to PDP Senators to pass a vote of no confidence on Akpabio.
Trouble started for Akpabio last week, when he attended the 65th birthday celebration of a former Governor of Lagos State, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, despite the rift between the All Progressives Congress (APC) leader and Saraki.
Akpabio, apart from attending the birthday bash, also placed over four advertorials in key national newspapers, where he congratulated Tinubu and described him as a leader.
Saraki and his loyalists, boycotted the birthday celebration, neither did he place advertorials in any newspaper to congratulate Tinubu.
Within the same period, a prominent member of the PDP caucus, Senator Peter Nwaoboshi, had a media war with the EFCC. While the brief media spat lasted, Akpabio did not intervene.
Nwaoboshi, it was learnt, reached out to Akpabio to issue a release on behalf of the Senate caucus, condemning his ‘harassment’ by the EFCC. It was gathered that Akpabio refused to act.
On Monday, Nwaoboshi, reportedly met with the Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Ike Ekweremadu to prevail on Akpabio to convene a meeting of PDP lawmakers.
Nwaoboshi was accompanied to the brief meeting with Ekweremadu by two of Saraki’s loyalists, Senators Samuel Anyanwu and Matthew Urhoghide, both PDP members.
After failing to secure the needed number of votes to compel Akpabio to step aside, the trio, Nwaoboshi, Anyanwu and Urhoghide, boycotted Tuesday’s meeting of the PDP caucus, held at the private residence of Akpabio.
At the meeting, lawmakers were sharply divided on whether or not Akpabio should be booted out. One by one, lawmakers accused him of not speaking up in their defence.
He was also accused of romancing with key APC leaders, especially Tinubu. Akpabio, supported by Ekweremadu, was able to douse the tension. Immediate-past Senate President, David Mark, who was present at the meeting, also intervened.
The crack in the party, prompted the appointment of Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe as spokesman of the caucus. It was done to enable the caucus speak with one voice, instead of the current practice where Akpabio calls the shot.
Ripples Nigeria, also learnt that a story, published by THISDAY Newspaper, alleging that PDP Senators discussed how Tinubu is using the EFCC to fight them, was planted by the Senate President, as part of his ongoing move to reduce the growing influence of the caucus.
In the coming days, media reports, it was learnt will be sponsored against Akpabio. In the media reports, Akpabio will be linked with Tinubu with claims that he is working to undermine Saraki.
Some journalists who have already been contacted to do the dirty job, have turned down the offer. In their place, bloggers are being contacted to fill in the gap.

The Chairman of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Senator Victor Ndoma-Egba and the Zonal Organizing Secretary (ZOS, South South) of APC, Paul Obi have warmly welcome Senator Florence Ita Giwa who really dumped the People's Democratic Party, PDP for APC to the party.
Recall that Senator Ita Giwa, a former Presidential Adviser on National Assembly matters who was appointed as the Chairman of Cross River Port Authority by Governor Ben Ayade on Friday defected with over 1,000 supporters from the PDP to APC.
In a separate statement issued by the duo, they described the decision of Ita Giwa to move to the party as a great development that shows her commitment to deploy her wealth of experience in moving Nigeria forward.
Clara Braide, Special Assistant, Communication to the NDDC Chairman who signed the statement on his behalf quoted Ndoma-Egba as saying that “Your coming to the APC at this point in our fledgling democracy is a pointer to your sincere commitment to deploy your wealth of experience, with other democrats, for the betterment of your Region and the Nation as a whole”.
He expressed optimism that judging from Sen. Ita Giwa’s antecedents as a team player, grassroots mobilizer and party faithful, the APC’s gradual push to take over the South-South is progressively becoming a reality.
“We all are aware of the interesting political story of this great woman of note and how she has been able to galvanize the people of her community to pursue a course that they hold dear in a non-political and non-military way.
“The party can benefit from her immense wealth of experience and tap into her political structure for our parties greater good. She is a good catch. This move is a further endorsement for President Mohammadu Buhari”, the system reads.
Obi, in his part noted that her coming was a great boost to the dream of APC to takeover government from the PDP in the state and other South South states.
"The crossing over of Mama Ita Giwa is a great development. The long awaited mother has come, it's like we had much Fathers without enough mothers.
"With her wealth of experience, the Party is growing stronger. Our plan to enshrine a good Government for Our People is receiving a boost and becoming realisable. Mama we welcome you", he stated.

THE UNTOLD: Why I Actually Lost 2015 Election - Jonathan Opens Up
News Proof 7.4.17 No comments Edit Post
The former President, Goodluck Jonathan has said the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, under the platform which he contested the 2015 Presidential election lost because Nigerians decided to vote the party out and not due to failure as widely claimed.
Speaking on Thursday in Abuja, the former President noted that all over the world political parties lost elections not because they failed but that the electorate chose to experience another leadership.
Jonathan also dismissed claims by the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, that his party left the country in ruins after 16 years at the helm of affairs.
Insisting that his party achieved a lot while in power, Jonathan said it was not strange for the party to be experiencing difficulties because “every election cycle is a challenge to any political party.”
According to Jonathan, “We are proud to state that PDP had creditably managed the affairs of this country for 16 years.
“There is no doubt that our party has in the last two years gone through some difficulties. However, in a democracy this is not strange in the life of a political party, especially after losing power to the opposition, like we did.
“At different times, I have also been making efforts to reunite, reconcile and re-energise to become stronger, before the next election. I will like to point out that every election cycle throws up a challenge as well as opportunities for a political party.
“A test to re-evaluate its performance, and an opportunity to reform its processes and programmes, towards rediscovering itself to become even more appealing to the electorate, in its next outing.
“This obviously is the area where we have excelled. The fact that we allowed this process to take place peacefully, and freely handed over.
“All over the world, political parties lose elections, not because they have entirely failed, but because, in most cases, the people who gave them power in the first place, have decided to hand it over to another party, in order to experience a different kind of leadership.
“This is not a forum for chest-thumping but it is important we highlight some relevant initiatives of past PDP administrations.
“Our ideological commitment towards a private sector-led and people-oriented economy manifested in the great achievements we recorded in various sectors including communications, agriculture, public financial management and financial reforms, the financial services rail and roads infrastructure, as well as in the social services.
“In agriculture, we revolutionized the sector by introducing programmes that encouraged more people, including the youths to embrace farming as a thriving business.
“We also boosted local capacity for food production, thereby drastically reducing the prize of food stuff and food import bill.
“That the PDP Government improved communication in Nigeria through the introduction of Global Systems for Mobile Communications (GSM) and the expansion of the nation’s information and communication technology architecture needs no gainsay.”

BREAKING: Makarfi's PDP Committee Is ILLEGAL - NJC Dismisses Appeal Against Sheriff, Justice Abang
News Proof 28.3.17 No comments Edit Post
The National Judicial Council, NJC, has cleared Justice Okon Abang of the Federal High Court in Abuja of any wrongdoing in his verdicts relating to the leadership crisis rocking the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
The Council, in a letter dated March 15 and signed by its Secretary, Mr. Danladi Halilu, dismissed allegations of gross misconduct that was levelled against the Judge by the Senator Ahmed Makarfi-led action of the party.
The legal body said it found no merit in the petition the group lodged against Justice Abang.
It will be recalled that Justice Abang had on July 29, 2016, declared the Makarfi-led Caretaker Committee of the PDP illegal. He held that the Committee was illegal considering that it was a product of a convention a faction of the party held in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, on May 21, 2016, in defiance of a subsisting court order that was made by Justice Ibrahim Buba of the Lagos Division of the Federal High Court, which had stopped the said convention from holding.
Justice Abang went ahead and accorded recognition to the Senator Ali Modu Sheriff leadership of the party. Meanwhile, dissatisfied with the decision of the court, Makarfi wrote a petition to the NJC dated August 25, 2016, in respect of suits Nos. FHC/ABJ/CS/439/2016 and FHC/ABH/CS/464/2016.
He accused Justice Abang of assuming appellate powers by overriding the decision of another court of the a coordinate jurisdiction.
After due consideration of the petition, the NJC in its letter with reference number NJC/ F.3/FHC 44/VII/55 stated: “At the end of deliberations, the council found that your petition finds no merit as there was no sufficient material before the NJC to infer that the judge sat on appeal over the decision of his brother judge of coordinate jurisdiction. “The appeal, therefore, lacked merit and is subsequently dismissed”.
PDP Shrinks Further As Another Reps Member Cross-carpet To APC; Colleague Kicks
News Proof 22.3.17 No comments Edit Post
The strength of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, especially at the National Assembly further shrank today as a member of the House of Representatives from Benue State, Hassan Anthony, has defected to the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC.
Mr. Anthony’s defection was announced on the floor of the House at the start of Wednesday’s plenary.
The lawmaker who represents Ado/Ogbadibo/Okpokwu constituency, cited division in the PDP as his reason for leaving.
Reacting to the defection, Nicholas Ossai (PDP-Delta) raised a point of order, urging the speaker to declare Mr. Hassan’s seat vacant.
“The Court of Appeal has on 17th February declared Modu Sheriff the authentic Chairman of the PDP, therefore there is no faction in the PDP,” Mr. Ossai said
But his argument did not see the light of the day as he was ruled out by the Speaker, telling him to bring a copy of the Court of Appeal judgement.
The defection of Mr. Hassan to APC has brought the number of APC representatives to 226 and that of PDP to 124.
PDP Crisis Messy As Gov. Dickson Says Makarfi Leadership Is ILLEGAL, Asks Him To Resign ..Reveals Shocking Secrets
News Proof 20.3.17 No comments Edit Post
Bayelsa State Governor, Seriake Dickson, has asked Senator Ahmed Makarfi and his Caretaker Committee to step down in the interest of the party.
Chairman of the PDP Reconciliation Committee made the call while speaking with newsmen on Sunday in Abuja.
He said: “When the idea of making Sheriff the National Chairman of our party was hatched, I personally kicked against it.
“I also turned down all the overtures from Sheriff because I did not believe in him and what he did.
“So now, my position is that we have to move forward. I am a politician of conviction, I am not a politician of convenience and I am not a typical Nigerian politician.
“The Makarfi-led caretaker committee should remember that it was a brainchild of the majority of the party members including I at a convention in Port Harcourt.
“I and up to 80 per cent of the population of the PDP members were for Makarfi but the unfolding events have compelled us to adopt a political resolution instead of embarking on further bickering.
“As politicians and democrats, we must first obey the constitution and all other instruments of civil rule and which includes obeying the judiciary,’’ he said.
“We had expected that the Court of Appeal would give us judgment, but it rather upheld Sheriff as the National Chairman of the party.
“Whether anybody likes Sheriff’s face or not, the Makarfi-led caretaker committee was stripped of its authority to manage the affairs of the party the day the judgment was delivered.
“In fact, as it stands now, Sheriff has started addressing issues within the party, he is the one sending names of party members contesting elections in various states.
“If there is going to be a by-election in Kaduna today, Makarfi’s home state, INEC would not accept correspondences from Makarfi any longer because his business in the party has ended,’’ he said.
Dickson said Sheriff had always been disposed to political settlement of the crisis, adding that Makarfi had remained adamant.
“So the reconciliation committee which I chair met several times to review our position in the light of the Court of Appeal’s judgment.
“The reality is that Makarfi no longer has the legal backing to carry on with the task of managing the party.
“We are aware of this quagmire, and therefore, the reconciliation committee went ahead to formulate a realistic, practical and strategic response to this reality because in the end it would be to the benefit of PDP.
“So if you said you are passionate about the survival of the party, then you should be willing to sacrifice your ambition.
“The crisis has caused us a lot, our elected officials, top notch members are decamping to even lesser parties.
“The party continues to fail Nigerians because the crisis has so far prevented it from being a sound credible opposition even in the face of bad governance in the country right now,” he said.
