UATH Marks World Sickle Day
The University of Abuja Teaching Hospital Gwagwalada UATH has embarked on awareness and match past across the hospital to mark this year 2023 World Sickle Cell Day.
The event usually hold on June 20, of every year is to orient people on the need to carry out genotype test before marriage and extra care for children living with the disease.
The event in the hospital attracted parents of children with SCD , carriers and children, along with medical personnel and staffs of the Paedetric department as well as Emergency Peadertric Unit EPU.
The match past took the participants to the administrative block where they were addressed by the Chief Medical Director, Professor Bissala Ekele and his representative.
Highlights of the occasion also included lectures, observation and testing of the children in the sickle cell unit of the hospital.
