Nigeria wrestlers continued their preparations for the Rio 2016 Olympic Games, with yet another commendable outing in Madrid, Spain. 



The wrestlers led by the indefatigable President of the Nigeria Wrestling Federation, Hon. Daniel lgali, began the matches with mixed results in the opening rounds of the Spain wrestling grand prix



And in the deciding bouts, Aminat Adeniyi defeated Hristov of Bulgaria by a pin - fall and also beat Mattson of Sweden, 4-3 to win a bronze medal. In another category, fast emerging star Odunayo Adekuoroye who had lost a earlier bout, bounced back to trounce her opponents from Argentina and Russia, 10-0 and 9-0 respectively to win a bronze medal. 



While Blessing Oborududu lost to Belarusian oppositions on criteria after the bout was scored 1-1, to claim a silver. 



Speaking after the tournament that featured 54 countries, lgali praised the athletes for putting up spirited performances. 



"This was a good test for the Olympics. I wish we had a few more tournaments like we had originally planned before the Olympics. 



"However, congratulations to all the young men and women for their tremendous efforts, " the former Olympic gold medalist stated.

The Nigeria Football Federation has been tasked to ensure that the U-23 national team is adequately prepared for the football event of the Rio 2016 Olympic Games. 

This charge was made during an exclusive interview by Prince Efemena Elutabe, the President of Lagos based non league side, Freestan football club. 

According to him, the NFF must not be distracted by any issue at this crucial period. 

"l acknowledge the different challenges facing the NFF, Elutabe said." that should rather spur them towards greater achievements, particularly, with the Olympic games. 

"The NFF must ensure that the U-23 national team is well prepared. Since the Super Eagles have failed to qualify for the Nations Cup, all Nigerians are eagerly looking forward to Samson Siasia and his boys to put smiles back on their faces, " the businessman cum football entrepreneur stated. 

He further admonished the football body to encourage and support the programmes of Siasia for the team.

" l know Samson Siasia to be a meticulous and hardworking tactician. However, the NFF and its technical department must ensure there is a faultless synergy with the team, "he added conclusively.

The Nigeria U-23 football team has been tipped to shine at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games, slated to begin in June.

This assertion was made during an exclusive interview by Rev. Sam lkpea, the Secretary - General of the Nigeria Football Supporters Club.

According to the vastly experienced administrator, the national U-23 team is filled with top quality young players based home and abroad.

"We are blessed with array of young and talented footballers who are zealous and determined to become great footballers, "Ikpea enthused.

He went ahead to restate his confidence in the abilities of Coach Samson Siasia to lead the team to a glorious outing in Rio.

" I acknowledge that it won't be easy. However, I believe that Siasia can lead the team to another glorious outing like we did at Atlanta '96, "the soft - spoken Ikpea added.
