Pandemonium broke out in Ode-Ekiti, headquarters of Gbonyin Local Government Area of Ekiti State yesterday when an employee of the council simply identified as Aderiye, allegedly committed suicide after stabbing three persons.
The deceased, whose remains had been deposited in a morgue, was a security guard at the private residence of the council Chairman, Mrs Sade Akinrinmola.
Daily Sun gathered the middle aged-man was said to have reported to work on Tuesday after the Monday public holiday hale and hearty without any sign of mental illness. He was said to have worked till 4pm and went home.
The deceased was said to have started behaving strangely around 7pm and allegedly went into the streets with a machete and started chasing people indiscriminately as well as brandishing the weapon.
He caught up with his victims and inflicted deep cuts on their stomachs, heads and backs.
After attacking the victims, the people were said to have launched a manhunt for him and after combing the streets, they were unable to see him. They headed to the man’s residence where his lifeless body was found hanging on the ceiling.
Confirming the story, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Mr Alberto Adeyemi, said the remains of the attcker had been deposited in the morgue.
