Notorious Daredevil Turkish School Kidnappers Reject N7.2m Despite Arrest Of 2 Gang-leaders

Turkish School Kidnappers
Distraught parents of children, who were abducted from the Turkish International College, Isheri, Ogun State, yesterday rallied to jointly raise N7.250 million for ransom.

This was disclosed yesterday by one of the parents. The parents, who were sick with worry, with many of them taking time off from their work, took matters into their hands after waiting for fruitful results from the Nigeria Police.

Since the abduction of the eight females from the school, including two Turkish nationals, the school had been shut down.

The closure of the school forced the parents to look for an alternative avenue at Ikeja, where they now often meet to discuss and rub minds on how to assist in the rescue of their children. The abductors had earlier demanded N100 million for each of the students, while demanding N300 million each for the Turkish nationals.

The kidnappers, during the week, brought down the ransom, but it was still an amount the parents couldn’t afford. According to a source: “The parents met yesterday at Ikeja.

They were able to gathered N7.250m. They got in touch with the kidnappers, but the men said the money was too small. They asked them to go and add more to the money, if they wanted their kids to be released.”

Earlier in the week, parents met to discuss raising part of the ransom, hopeful, that some money would pacify the abductors and make them to release their children. The meeting ended in a fiasco, with parents split in two factions.

While some argued that they should jointly raise N15 million, others said N50 million would soothe the kidnappers.

But yesterday, they met to look at what they had gathered. After taking count, the money was N7.250 million, but the kidnappers snubbed the offer.

Just like the classical Oliver Twist, the abductors asked for more money. It also gathered that following the arrest of the two militant kingpins, Philip Joel Kakadu (aka General Kakadu), 29, a native of Egbema Kingdom, Warri North Local Government Area and Romeo Council, 40, aka Raw, the Inspector- General of Police, Ibrahim Idris’s Special Intelligence Response Team (IRT) operatives, have divided into five teams.

According to sources, this move came as a result of confessions from Kakadu about the abduction of the eight females.

Kakadu had earlier told police that the abduction was, a ‘Joint Operation,’ among three different gangs of kidnappers.

He told police that he contributed five men and planned the abduction, but didn’t go with them. Police said since his arrest, he has been singing none stop.

Kakadu was arrested after four years on Police Wanted List for bank robbery, pipeline vandalism and kidnapping.

He was the unseen face, but known name in police circles, behind the popular Agbara, Festac, Lekki and Ikorodu bank robberies.

Kakadu and his men were known for blowing up banks’ doors and vaults with dynamites. It was, however, based on his confessions, that the IRT operatives have spread into states in South-South and South-West.

It was gathered that more than 16 suspects, had been arrested earlier, including women, but thorough investigations by the IRT operatives, whittled down the number.

Presently, five confirmed suspects, including a lady, are among the suspects in police custody. In another development, it was gathered that the Turkish School, has finally hired people to clear the bushes behind the school.

The move ought to have elicited shouts of joy from parents, but parents were rather disgusted and sneered.

More facts have emerged on the two of the Nigerian Turkish International College students kidnappers reportedly arrested by the Nigerian Police. They are Niger Delta hoodlums tormenting Lagos and Ogun States.

News Punch had yesterday broken the news of the arrest of the notorious kidnappers.

The arrested suspects, according to Punch Newpaper are masterminds of the kidnapping of pupils and staff members of the Turkish International Colleges in Ogun State.

Our source further said the arrested culprits are the ringleaders of the kidnapping gang,  They are Philip Kakadu, aka General Kakadu, and Romeo Council, aka Raw, other suspects were also said to be undergoing screening in connection with the abduction.

The 29-year-old Kakadu and Council, 40, were apprehended in Warri, Delta State, by operatives of the Inspector-General of Police Intelligence Response Team, led by ACP Abba Kyari.

Some gunmen had stormed the NTIC last Friday through a hole dug under the school fence and headed for the female hostel, where three pupils were abducted.

A Turkish teacher, a supervisor, a matron and two intending candidates of the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination, who worked in the school, were also whisked away by the assailants.

The kidnappers had contacted the matron’s husband and demanded N100m while the police were under pressure to rescue the victims safely.

However, operatives said they were exercising restraints to storm the possible locations of the suspects in the creeks in order not to endanger the lives of the victims.

A police source told our correspondent on Wednesday that the two masterminds had reportedly confessed to orchestrating the crime, adding that the arrest would mount pressure on the captors to release the victims.

“Council is a native of the Bomadi Local Government Area, Delta State, while Kakadu hails from Warri North LGA of the state. They were arrested on Tuesday and have confessed to orchestrating the kidnapping at the school.

“They also confessed to other kidnappings, including the abduction of the Iba monarch in Lagos, and some Isheri landlords. With their arrest, we believe their boys holding the victims in the creeks would surrender,” the source said.

Kakadu allegedly told the police that five of his boys were among those involved in the NTIC operation.

“Kakadu is based in Lagos. He went to Warri to have fun. That was when operatives swooped on him. Five of his men were part of the gang and he is cooperating with the police,” another source added.

A top security agent said the aim of going after the kingpins was not only to secure the release of the victims, but also to find a better way of addressing incessant kidnappings in Lagos and Ogun states.

Efforts to get comment of the Force Public Relations Officer, CP Donald Awunah, were unsuccessful as calls made to his line rang out. He had also yet to reply to a text message sent to him as of press time.

BREAKING: 2 Ogun Turkish School Kidnappers Arrested Molesting Victim Sexually

2 Ogun Turkish School Kidnappers Arrested Molesting Victim Sexually
Two among the kidnappers, who stormed the Nigerian Turkish International College, Isheri, Ogun State, abducting eight females, including two Turkish nationals, have been arrested, said sources.

This was even as police authorities have vowed not to engage in negotiations for payment of ransom with abductors of the students and staff. News also filtered out yesterday that worried and frantic parents have been divided over amount to contribute in order to get their children and wards released.

The two suspects were alleged to have been tracked and arrested at different locations. It was learnt that one of the kidnappers, simply identified as ‘Commander General,’ was arrested in the creek, while the second, whose identity is yet unknown, was arrested in Arogbo area, Ondo State on Monday night.

According to sources, detectives stormed the creek and swooped on Commander General, while he was in bed with two women. The police recovered a big Mikano Generator, which was planted close to the kidnapper’s makeshift house in the creek. The second suspect was arrested in Arogbo, Ondo State, by a decoy team of policemen deployed in the community.

A police source said: “The Special Intelligence Respond Team (IRT), deployed by the Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, from Abuja, is closing in on the kidnappers and several suspects, including two prime suspects, already in police net.”

In another development, it was gathered that there was a serious disagreement between victims’ parents on the amount to pay for ransom. A source at the school said: “Some parents of the victims were of the opinion that they should pool resources together and pay the kidnappers N15 million for all the victims, while others think they should push for N50 million, to facilitate fast release of the victims.”

When our correspondent visited the school yesterday, mobile policemen were still seen manning strategic locations within the school premises.

The gunmen, numbering about 20, who were armed to the teeth, stormed the school premises around 9:30pm on Friday night, broke the fence and abducted the female students in their hostels along with five non-teaching staff. Meanwhile, police authorities in Ogun State; have vowed not to engage in negotiations for payment of ransom with the abductors.

This position came against the backdrop of reports that the suspected kidnappers that invaded the school on Friday night had demanded N1.2 billion ransom before releasing the victims.

Speaking on efforts to rescue the victims, the state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Abimbola Oyeyemi, said the security agencies were close to apprehending the kidnappers.

The image maker said: “We are not leaving any stone unturned to make sure the victims are rescued. The hoodlums will be brought to book. We are very much sure of that. I will not tell you how close we are on that for security reasons. Very soon, we are going to rescue them. By the time we rescue them, the press will be updated.”

Oyeyemi, however, stressed that the police will not engage in any negotiation with the kidnappers on ransom. His words: “The police will not be party to any discussion on ransom.

We don’t encourage anybody to pay ransom to kidnappers. If you pay such money, you are encouraging them. When they demand for ransom and you don’t pay them, they will no longer see it as a business that is viable. We have been given the mandate to rescue the victims unhurt and to bring the perpetrators to book.

We are working assiduously to achieve this. I will advise that there shouldn’t be anything like negotiation.

We are not party to that and we will not encourage it.” Oyeyemi noted that safety and security of schools should be the business of all Nigerians. He said: “Security is everybody’s business.

It’s not something that we should leave in the hands of the police or the security agencies alone. We should ensure that the lives of pupils are not in danger.

The school must be properly fenced. On top of the fence, there should be barbed wire. If need be, the barbed wires should be electrified, especially schools with boarding facilities. This will protect the school from invasion.

There should be local security men within the school. School proprietors shouldn’t employ the services of aged men to do the job of securing the schools. Agile and able-bodied men should be hired by schools to see to the day-to-day of keeping the schools safe.”
