Gov. Yahaya Bello's One Year In Office: A Disaster, A Year Of Pains And Backwardness - Usman Okai Austin

Gov. Yahaya Bello's One Year In Office: A Disaster, A Year Of Pains And Backwardness - Usman Okai Austin

Yahaya Bello
The civil right advocates and one of the Leading opposition figures in Kogi state Usman Okai Austin  has described the one year in office of Governor Alhaji Yahaya Bello  as a disaster foretold, dismissing his administration as a One Chance Government.

In a statement signed by Usman Okai Austin, he lamented the cruelty and  fate that has befallen the State.

He further laments that the Confluence state never had it so bad since its creation in 1991, the outspoken figure said even the former Milltary administrators of the state are rated far better than the coronated Governor

The opposition leader said: “Bello  case is like a ‘one chance bus’ where governance is praticised as a deceitful venture. Within one year in office, Bello has wasted and lavished over N220 Billion Naira, including monthly allocation that was allocated to the State from the federal purse  and N10Billion Naira infrastructural development fund that was applied for by the previous government that was given to him.

N20Billion Naira Bailout Fund and Parish Club Excess Refund of N15 Billion Naira, Alhaji Ibrahim Idris Ibro built Federal Government Roads and the money was refunded back to the state worth N16 Billion from the Federal Government for the Ajaokuta,Lokoja Road Rebuilt by IBRO Government.

The 700 millions Ecological funds and December 2015  allocation left behind  by the Wada  Administration, and minimum of N600 millions internally generated revenue.

This is the highest by any Governor so far, more than what Governor Wada received in his entire four years in office.

The question is, what has Alhaji Yahaya Bello used all these resources to achieve for the State?

It is on record that instead of improving on the legacies of his predecessors in managing the Civil Servants , he instead chose to destroy them. Over thousands of the workers and pensioners are labeled ghost workers based on the policy of Bello Administration .

Modern primary and secondary constructed by the previous  Administration have now been turned into dens of criminals and kidnappers due to the lingering strike orchestrated by non payment of teachers.

Our health sector has gone from bad to worst within one years as the capable hands are labeled ghost Doctors and Nurses and Hospital denied of modern equipments to the extend that the patient has to go and buy syringe from chemist themselves. Kogi state Diagnostic Hospital Lokoja is more of mortuary as so many dead corpse are seeing on bed due to poor health facilities,

“Our Agriculture sector that was revolutionised through the establishment of the Modern Agricultural Development Projects ADPs the Palm Fruits and the Rice Production Centres have either been scrapped or rendered useless by Bello  Administration.

The opposition youth leader bemoaned the high level of violence in the State in the past one year that Bello has been in power. “Today, the Confluence State under Yahaya watch is termed as Confluence of blood where kidnappers, assassins, cultism, robbers not only hold sway but are empowered through patronage.

A lecturer from Benue state was Kidnapped and his dead body found, last week, so many were abducted along Ajaokuta, Itobe Road among them is Hassan Ado the former Chairman of the PDP Dekina and Others the kidnappers collected millions from their victims, the prominent Traditional Ruler from Ajaokuta spent his new year eve with kidnappers as the victims are left alone with their fate, the state government can't beat her chest and tell us any effort put in place to secure the state as there is an exodus of Kidnappers into Kogi state because Bello has made kogi state the safe haven for the kidnappers and the armed robbers,

Everyday people are Being kidnapped as the government seems careless or clueless,Okai said

Based on the above sad and pathetic scenario, is now obvious that the Confluence State has nothing to celebrate, “especially having ensured that one year in office the state civil servants are treated like slave  due to his obnoxious policy as Kogi State is no longer safe even for the passerbye,

Alhaji Yahaya Bello performance in several other aspects of the lives of Kogi  people has also been woeful. Till today, Alhaji Yahaya Bello administration has no concrete policies on Agriculture, Education, Industrial Development, Manufacturing, Tourism, Employment Generation, State Security, etc. This man is a total disaster.

The only visible achievement by Bello  and his gang of confused minds is repackaging and commissioning of Class rooms built by the management of the School Health Technology,Idah and repainting of street light pools in a Lokoja Town put in place by the Wada Administration and the heavy taxation and levies being imposed on Trailers passing by as well as the reintroduction of school WAEC /NECO fees earlier cancelled by Alhaji Ibrahim Ibro Administration.

We the good  people of Kogi should ask ourselves, what have we gotten ourselves into?

Where and when did Kogi  State fall off the track and fall into Bello's one chance bus?

“Who did this kind of thing to us?” As we sympathize with the people of Kogi  State over the misfortune of having a one chance government rule over them.

It appealed to Bello  “in the interest of our people and the future of our children, not to be ashamed and to humbly ask his predecessors to teach him how to manage civil servants and possibly learn from their own mistake on where they failed and what is their mistakes

Alhaji Yahaya Bello is fast emerging as the first clueless governor of Nigeria ,Kogi state is blessed with men of intellectual capacity but we are unfortunate in leadership.

Igala Land: The Region In Dire Need Of Unity And Development; The Urgency of Now, The Lamentation of Usman Okai Austin

Igala Land: The Region In Dire Need Of Unity And Development; The Urgency of Now, The Lamentation of Usman Okai Austin

Usman Okai Austin
Igala people are the dominant ethnic group, located at the Kogi east senatorial district of Kogi state with a projected population  of about 60% of the entire state. The Igala people represent the dominant ethnic groups that were carved from Benue state and merged with the Kwara groups for the creation of Kogi state in 1991.

Throughout the successive civilian democratic polity since the creation of Kogi state, Igalas have produced all the Governors; Prince Abubakar Audu as the first Executive Governor in 1992, Audu was returned and served between 1999 - 2003. Ibrahim Idris succeeded Audu and serves between 2003 - 2011 after serving out two terms. Idris Wada succeeded Ibrahim Idris as the third Executive Governor between 2011 - 2015.

During the 2015 Governorship election, Wada lost to Audu of APC who was coasting to victory but died a day to his announcement. This strange development expectedly created serious political brouhaha in the state. After much rancor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello who was the second runner off to Audu during the APC primary election was nominated by the party and declared winner of the said election. This signaled what can best be described as accidental power shift as for the first time an Egbira person of Kogi central extraction emerging as the Governor of the state.

This unplanned and unhealthy political development is without doubt came with all the inherent victimization most especially in the areas of development against the igala speaking area.

As if the shock of the death of Audu was not enough, no sooner had the Igalas withstood the death of Audu and emergence of Yahaya Bello as Governor, that James Ocholi SAN, a bonafide igala son and a serving minister of state in the Buhari led government, died in a mysterious ghastly car accident which also took the lives of his wife and son. In fact, the vacuum created as a result of the death of Ocholi has not been filled till date.

As it is now, both at the state and federal levels, the Igala and Bassa people combined who represent the major ethnic groups in the state have no voice to speak for them most especially in the areas of the dire needs of the lacking development in Kogi east.
Igala today, is not Governor of Kogi state, is not the Speaker, nor the Chief Judge of the State nor the Secretary to the State Government but only managed to occupied the position of Deputy Governorship just to merely fulfill the constitutional requirements.

At the federal level, Igala is not a minister in the federal cabinet, has no permanent secretary, no ambassadorial appointee, no Chairman and Member of Federal Boards and Parastatals, no Vice Chancellor and Registrar of federal universities. The list of the dehumanized and traumatized politically motivated marginalization against the people of Kogi east by the APC led governments are too obvious to mention. In fact, none of our elected federal representatives is either a chairman of any house committee or a deputy.

Since the Igalas have no spokesperson nor represented in the APC state and federal governments, it is therefore not surprise that non of igala major towns of Ankpa, Idah, Dekina, Anyigba, Ugwolawo, Okpo, Abejukolo, Oguma, Ajaka can boast of portable water, motorable township roads, let alone street lights. In fact electricity from the power holding to the Igala areas is non existent. Government owned hospitals in these towns are not just mere consulting clinics but slaughter slab. Primary and secondary schools in the area are identified with dilapidated infrastructures with pupil sitting on the bare floors and under the trees to learn. Apart from the infrastructural challenges, teachers from these areas are owed salaries as much as 20 months with most of them dying almost on daily basis while some were politically declared as ghost even while alive. In addition, no major town in Igala and Bassa land can boast of functional drainage system We have been living self deceived.

Are we bewitched ? How can a region that held power since the creation of Kogi state be said to lack basic social amenities . The region is blessed with arable land and population to the advantage of other regions within the same state but instead of taking the advantage of political power we used it to do more harm than good?

That was the reason late Prince Abubakar Audu was commended for the establishment of the State University at Anyigba and unfortunately that same University which is the only developmental legacy in the Igala area is facing politically motivated decentralisation/balkanisation leading to its  destruction with Igala son Mr. Edward Onoja being the champion for selfish motives as a compensation for his appointment as the Chief of Staff to Governor Alhaji Yahaya Bello who incidentally, inherited late Abuabakar Audu votes. The spirit of Audu will certainly hunt all those that inherited his votes but turn around to destroy his legacies.

Igala land, blessed with who is who in Nigeria, lacks common ground as everybody want to be seen the leader at the same time. By nature do we have leaders ? Yes, the Attah of Igala is seen as a father of igala kingdom and he is viewed as head who has autonomous power to summon every sons and daughters of igala kingdom for dialogue and seek for the way forward. Whether he is discharging that revered roles bestowed on him is another topic entirely.

Am not aware if any of such meeting between a monarch and his subjects has ever taken place since the assumption of the present Attah of Igala, HRM Michael Oboni II. Should he call the meeting, will they honour it? Can they reach any amicable resolution before him? Can Attah ask any Igala sons and daughters to drop his or her ambition for someone else he thinks is more capable ? Your guessing answers is the same as mine.

What of political leaders ? Those who supposed to assume that position are the ones creating more problems for the region as everybody wants to take glory. Majority of our leaders seem to be unaware that history will judge every individual especially those driven more by their personal interests.

We are our own enemy, it seems? Tell igala man that state creation is around the corner, every town wants to be the state headquarter.

What about election madness ? Another big sickness in Igala Kingdom of late. In fact Kogi state always lead when it comes to the number of aspirants for Governorship position, courtesy of ambitious Igala politicians with Supreme Court mostly at the final settling point in political disputes between and among Igalas.

The simple solution to the above hydra headed madness among the Igala and in Igala land, is unity and purposeful leadership to confront the current challenges and the imminent obvious ones ahead. Igala political leaders must bury and curtail their ego, rid ourselves of unnecessary envy and jealousy.

It is unimaginable that an igala man will write petition against another igala man. The dark forces working day and night to foist spirit of division must be put to shame now if we must progress.

Recently, at a gathering of Who is Who in Igala land at Transcorp Hotel, one of the guests who is a prominent person in the government of Kogi state today, openly declared that igala discriminate against Ogugu and Ibaji. My simple question is who truly is an igala person if such personality can in an undistinguished manner came up with such remarks? They can't be igala without Ogugu , there is no igala without Ibaji and we must strongly condem this spirit of discrimination .

Igala must move forward. God bless Igala and Bassa land, God bless Kogi state. United we stand and divided we will continue to play second fiddle even when we are the majority. Let us all support the Igala Political summit as a starting point to deliberate ways forward.

Governor Bello, His Battalion of Psychopath And Voodoo Government, By Usman Okai Austin

Governor Bello, His Battalion of Psychopath And Voodoo Government, By Usman Okai Austin

When politicians indulge in power games, they act without principles.  When politicians, or anyone else, give up the pursuit of truth, they or their parties are doomed.  As when we create power groups to lobby for our cause and is willing to do anything to achieve our goal, it is acceptable to power seekers because the norms are not regarded.

What is happening in Kogi now used to be a mere imagination. No one ever thought that in this era of political awareness and socialization, ugly situations can be the order of the day by power seekers. There is a lot of lack of respect for contrary opinion, lack of basic civility as Bello opponents receive death threats for criticizing Bello from his legion of psychopaths. There is a lot of intimidation on the backs of the poor and the powerless, secret promotion of discrimination and bigotry, bitter partisanship hiding behind financial savings, rise of this-is-my-project/my-tribal-guy syndrome, singing of the-will-of-God-must-be-respected-by-all mandate, reign of I-will-not-listen-to-anybody mentality and all the inherent dramatization of ‘divinely anointed’ power occupants.

They poses
• A disregard for laws and social mores
• A disregard for the rights of others
• A failure to feel remorse or guilt
• A tendency to display violent behavior
OK, here goes…3 universal truth that Bello and his battalion must acknowledge
• Bello must know that individually we have a voice!
• Bello must know that as a group, courage still works!
• Bello must know that our principles define us! and that opposition doesn't amount to Enemy and that intimidation is the way of the weak .

The psychopath  in Kogi state has no principle, they are so cheap, they don't have shame , they sing HOSSANA today and come back tomorrow to shout CRUCIFY him, they are permanents friend of Lugard House . They are in all government in power AGIP. They will never allow hetruth to enter the table of their victim ( Their Principal)

They were with the Prince of the Niger before (Late Prince Audu ) they moved to  Sai Ibro dole project ,from Ibro to Sai Wada now these people are now going around threatening people , directly involved in Name calling,  Name dropping  Buck passing and pushing the blame around just to please Bello, they know how to do, what to do to and when to do it to create a space for themselves in any government.  They must have an excuses to be in any government in power.

These people are ready to go dirty, as dirty as pig to please Bello, the psychopath has no future sight , some of these   psychopath are graduate, and intelligent ,mostly youth but yet they can't step out of the sore of Kogi state to seek for another alternatives, psychopath, eyes services has become profession and their daily job, they are on weekly allowance and some monthly allowances, the receive their alert even at the expense of career civil servants in kogi state .

As for Bello the allowance of the vultures is his number priority. Under their watch two Lagosian were imported to man social media for Bello as SSA, Nobody is taken them serious and therefore, menial job is their own portion

A friend called them Lugard vultures . Lugard vulture were recruited to engage and abuse whoever opposes their new found love , the vultures has created several pseudo account (fake Facebook account) dishing out threat, all in the name of mass-aching their Principals Eggo . The  psychopath view opposition as Enemy not rival . To them whoever dare criticize Bello must receives death threat, insult and warning phone call and bully    Ignorantly , they believe that Audu died and Bello inherited his votes ,therefore Bello is  from God and must be respected, and not to be criticized.

The are categories along ethnic line , and ignorantly thus is creating ethnic tension , the vultures from igala land are saying they are rally round Bello because he is young, actually they must have an excuses to justify their shameless behavior ,to the psychopath from Ebira land, Bello is their own and must not be criticize, these categories view Ebira personality opposing Bello as Juda is carrot and should be point out for crucifixion , today Kogi is dividing along ethnic lines, the tribal tension is so high .
What Bello must understand is that as long as he is occupying public office.  He is subject to public scrutining, he must grow up to accept criticism ,embrace it and learn from it .

To the vultures our message is simple, allow Bello to listen to the voice of wisdom,

The message for the vulture are simple
The Opposition are not disturbed because they cannot eat our flesh.

The bullies are threatening yet The opposition shall not bow because they cannot break our spirit or conquer my soul.

The liars are lying yet We shall not be deterred for We know the Ancient of Days, the mighty God that We serve.

The dogs are barking yet We continue to rejoice, knowing that lions do not tremble at the bark of an accursed mongrel.
