Wiki Loves Monuments is an international photo contest for monuments that will commence in September 2016, organized globally by affiliates of the Wikimedia Foundation, a not-for-profit organization that hosts Wikipedia.
The public takes photos of monuments, upload them to Wikimedia Commons, for them to be used in Wikipedia and elsewhere. According to the Guinness Book of Records, the 2011 edition of the Wiki Loves Monuments broke the world record for the largest photography competition.
In 2013, the Wiki Loves Monuments competition was held across six continents including Antarctica and had official participation from more than fifty countries around the world. This year Nigeria will participates in this contest and will be organized by Wikimedia Nigeria.

The winning pictures at the national level will be nominated for the international contest. These nominated pictures will be judged by an international jury, which will then award extra prizes to the best images from all participating countries.
The list of monuments of in Nigeria is already published in the official website of the project, including the rules, requirements and the detailed description of this competition at Commons:Wiki Loves Monuments 2016 in Nigeria After a month, 10 best photos will be selected from Nigeria. These photos, will be sent to the international competition and will be judged by the global community.
