Osinbajo: Buhari, Biographer LIED In New Book - Tinubu's Men Say
APC chieftains and former aides of the National leader the APC Bola Tinubu, have accused John Paden, the publisher of a new book on President Buhari of telling lies in the book titled: "Muhammadu Buhari: The Challenges of Leadership in Nigeria".

“Buhari and his biographer, Paden lied, according to Lateef Raji a former commissioner under Tinubu.

Prof Paden had claimed that Tinubu, had put pressure Buhari to be made the vice presidential candidate but was turned down.

Another close associate Tunji Bello in an elaborate account below expressed anguish at President Buhari and his biographer's lie in the new book.

Tunji Bello's Account:
Nothing strengthens deceit more than silence. And on an occasion like this, one often wonders why some people twist events and history in order to legitimize a mission. While ruminating over why this should be, it is not impossible to embark on introspection by thinking out so many possibilities that politics is replete with. This line of thought is informed by laughable events of the last few days. The news media have become agog with false story as to how Vice President Yemi Osibajo came to be. During the launch of a book: ‘Muhammadu Buhari: The Challenges of leadership in Nigeria,’ a biography on President Mohammadu Buhari in Abuja on Monday, 3rd October 2016, Nigerians were fed with half truths by the author, Professor John Paden, on how Osibajo became the Vice President of the country. I don’t know how the author came about his story, but he totally got it wrong because what he wrote basically is based on falsehood that reeks of deliberate misinformation and mischief.I know how Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu picked Vice President Yemi Osibajo because I was part of the process that midwifed his nomination. In mid-December 2014, it was a Saturday morning after President Muhammadu Buhari had been picked by All Progressives Congress (APC), at the party’s presidential primary at Teslim Balogun Stadium in Surulere, Lagos. I received a phone call from Asiwaju to see him that morning. On my way to his house, I discovered that a car at a reasonable distance was that of former Lagos State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Dele Alake, who was, ostensibly, heading towards Asiwaju’s house in Ikoyi. Asiwaju must have called him too for that task that could be explained underneath.
As soon as we arrived, Asiwaju quickly asked us to join him in his car as we headed to a guest house. At the guest house, the former APC Chairman, Chief Bisi Akande, Professor Yemi Osibajo and one renowned Pastor joined us.
At the meeting, Asiwaju related to us the urgent need to pick a vice-presidential candidate for the APC. He advised that we immediately discard the idea of his being nominated for the vice-presidential slot as it was no longer possible to pick a Muslim-Muslim ticket. This he reasoned made sense if indeed we were to be realistic in our bid to defeat President Goodluck Jonathan in the 2015 election. He reasoned that what was important and imperative at that time was to look for a good Christian nominee to complement President Muhammadu Buhari.
I remember Baba Akande responded to his aversions that he would still have preferred that Asiwaju should be the running mate since it had been done before. Baba Akande was obviously referring to the MKO Abiola/ Babagana Kingibe nomination. Asiwaju responded by distinguishing the political equation then from what was before us at that point in time. He foreclosed that scenario as no longer possible. We all voiced our opinions, and at the end of the day, it was resolved that we had to get a Christian candidate.
It was at this point that Asiwaju reminded us to be fast in coming up with an option because he felt other geographical zones are also jostling for same position reiterating the need for the south-west to get it as a must. Asiwaju audaciously told us for that left for him, and if he were to pick anyone, he would suggest Professor Yemi Osibajo. That Osibajo, apart from being a brilliant legal luminary is also a committed progressive, and democrat. And having been married to late Obafemi Awolowo’s grand-daughter, it would not be a problem selling him to the old political establishment of south-west for acceptance. He asserted that Alake and myself having served in his cabinet could attest to the great works he did as Attorney General during his, Asiwaju’s administration as Governor of Lagos State. He also reasoned that the second major factor in favour of Osibajo was the fact that he is a strong Christian and one that he is already a Pastor at the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG).
In the long run, Osibajo’s nomination was well received by all of us at that meeting and Professor Osibajo was asked to start detailing with us, further strategy sessions to which he brought out his laptop and we all commenced a brainstorming session.
The rest of the discussion was to strategise on how to contain other likely opponents from the southwest zone before proceeding to Abuja to battle other regional zones in the coming nomination. The meeting did not finish until about 9.00pm when we returned to Asiwaju’s residence in Bourdillon. By the time we returned to his house, there were about six serving governors already waiting to see him from different parts of Nigeria.
What is particularly sad now is that the book launch of the president was deployed to create a make-believe story that puts the society at a disadvantage of history. One would have thought that now that the progressives, through an uncommon alliance in 2015, created an upset by defeating, for the first time in the country’s history, the then ruling People’s Democratic Party, it might be taken as given that the role of all active participants in the exercise would be correctly recorded. But surprisingly and painfully too, such an avenue was used to create an historical distortion of facts.
If a political adversary had done that, one would not have been disturbed. This is because at the end of the day under such circumstance, the goal is usually to create a make-believe story that puts the society on a wrong side of history. But now that the progressives, through an uncommon alliance in 2015, created an upset by defeating, for the first time in the country’s history, the then ruling People’s Democratic Party, it might be taken as given that the role of all active participants in the exercise would be correctly recorded. But surprisingly painful is the fact that an historical distortion of facts is coming from an unexpected quarters at this early stage of progressive politics.
It becomes more of a matter of concern when a renowned intellectual writes a book and begins to redefine events in his own way by abashedly evading facts that are bellowing in the public space in order to re-create a world of make-believe for his audience. Sincerely, such an act understandably becomes a matter to ponder seriously.
Let us stop here. It is not all clothes that can be dried in the sun.

How Osinbajo Actually Emerged Vice President - Tinubu

How Osinbajo Actually Emerged Vice President - Tinubu
The Daily Sun - The National Leader of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, yesterday explained how Prof. Yemi Osinbajo (SAN) emerged Vice President

According to him, Osinbajo was a product of religious balancing which became an issue in last year’s presidential election.

This is even as he said President Muhammadu Buhari may be slow, but he is steady, especially now that he is older and given his experience.

Tinubu spoke yesterday during the launch of a book; “Muhammadu Buhari: The Challenges of Leadership in Nigeria”, written by John Paden, a professor of International Studies. The event was held at the International Conference Centre, Abuja. He was one of the reviewers.

Tinubu noted that Paden succinctly explained the transition from the Buhari in uniform to one in civilian garb.

He notes that in terms of style of leadership, “Buhari, as a young military Head of State, was in a hurry. However, now that he is older and given his experience, he is ‘slow, but steady’ in his approach to governance.”

Tinubu noted that the choice of Osinbajo as Buhari’s running mate in the 2015 presidential election proved that the President was not intolerable to religious difference as it was insinuated.

“There was the issue of selecting a running mate and after a careful study and discussion, it was agreed that we should fill the religious balance ticket, given the sensitivity of the moment,” he said.

“Based on this conclusion, the name of a renowned professor, Yemi Osinbajo, the professor of Law and former Lagos State Attorney-General during my time as governor was proposed and accepted as running mate.

“Osinbajo was also a pastor in the largest church in the country, this is for those trying to paint Buhari as intolerant religious leader,” Tinubu said.

“During the campaign, he (Buhari) surprised many by his agility and the broad canvass on which he operated,” he said.

“In tracing the evolution of Buhari, the national leader said Paden’s assertion that military rule is based on the power its holders can wield, while civilian rule is based on the legitimacy derived from elections, is a point with which I dare not debate.

“Buhari’s career embodies this, hence, his transition from being a military ruler to being a civilian leader, who subjected himself to the rigours and uncertainty of elections four times. Thrice, he patiently went to court seeking redress from electoral manipulation.

The author, quite accurately, remarked on the Buhari victory equation, as flowing from Northern grassroots support and coalition-building with the South West as well as with other tendencies.”

In retrospect, the former Lagos State governor regretted the failed merger of the defunct Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), his party, and the Congress for Progressives Change (CPC), Buhari’s party, saying: “In forming the ‘new’ party, we had three challenges.

“The first was learning the right lessons from the aborted attempt at political cooperation in 2011. Fortunately, both the ACN and CPC regretted our inability to conclude a pact in 2011.

“We agreed that there would be no recrimination over what did not happen before. We agreed there would be an intensified effort to forge the united effort that eluded us in 2011.

“In 2011, both parties wanted cooperation, but became stuck whether that should take the form of an alliance or outright merger. This difference gave rise to another one, regarding how the vice presidential candidate, who would run with the presidential candidate, Muhammadu Buhari, would be selected.

“Despite numerous good-faiths demonstrated in attempts to resolve these issues, time ran out on finding a solution. In retrospect, we all were perhaps a bit too inflexible and did not realize the extent to which cooperation and flexibility were needed to establish the reform we all wanted.

“The result: each party went its own way in 2011. However, the talks of 2011 would foreshadow the discussions, beginning in 2013, which led to the successful merger forming the APC.”

Earlier, Tinubu and the APC National Chairman, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun met for the first time yesterday, eight days after the former wrote letter accusing the latter of carrying out a coup during the September 3, 2016 Ondo State governorship primary of the party. In fact, Tinubu urged Odigie-Oyegun to resign over alleged anti-party activities.

Both leaders sat side-by-side, while emissaries took turns in conferring with the APC national leader, perhaps appealing to him to take things easy as regards the recent happenings in the party.

Rather than use the occasion to settle their differences, the two leaders tactically avoided each other.

At the event, Odigie-Oyegun and Tinubu were invited to the podium for the presentation of the book. With Odigie-Oyegun on the far left, at least five persons separated him from Tinubu.

At the end of the presentation, the chairman walked past Tinubu before exchanging handshakes with other guests, including former Head of State, Gen. Yakubu Gowon.

I didn't Lobby To Be Vice President - Pastor Yemi Osinbajo; Reveals God's Prophecies To Nigeria Yesterday

Osinbajo
Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, yesterday, disclosed that he never lobbied anybody before he became Vice President.  He  also declared that the country had moved forward as it turned 56 years and would continue to move forward.

He made the declaration in a speech at the service of the Olive Tree Parish of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Lagos. He asked the congregation if they knew that God made a promise to the nation which was that the nation would be great and made the same promise to them as individuals.

The vice president said a lot of people are confused and asking if the promise will ever come true.

He said “this country has gone forward and it is going to keep moving forward.”

Osinbajo recalled that while he was praying recently, the Lord reminded him of something he asked him to do on the eve of the 2015 Presidential election.

He said that God asked him to take the communion because he was crossing over and when he did (take the communion), God took him through the journey from Egypt to the Promised Land.

Osinbajo said God reminded him of what happened in that journey.

He added that the first thing that happened was that God Himself said if He took the children of Israel through the path where the Philistines lived, they would be afraid and would be asked to return to Egypt.

He said God rather took the people through the Red Sea.  The vice president explained that by the time they were about crossing the sea, there was a fight back from where they were coming from as Pharoah chased them and wanted to bring them back.

He said the incident got Moses confused as he did not know what to do as God never told him there would be a Red Sea, a difficulty, in the journey. The vice president added that if God was with us, no one would be against us.

“The reason why I, Yemi Osinbajo, without asking for a position, was given the Vice Presidency of this nation is because God’s hand is in this business. And so, I am completely confident that despite where we are today, it is the dawn of a new beginning.

“It has begun to show and surely there is a very bright light at the end of the tunnel.” He noted that “God knows that this country has a plan and purpose in Africa and in the world; the land and purpose will never diminish or be cut short.”

Osinbajo said the role of Christians as spiritual people was not to grumble and added that Christians have been trained to be steadfast in times of difficulty and recalled the injunction he gave to the parish about having a role to play in making the country great.

RECESSION: Jonathan's Helmsman, Ex-Minister Approves $1b AfDB Loan To Save Nigeria
The African Development Bank (AfDB), headed by Akinwunmi Adesina, former agriculture minister, on Monday, September 26, 2016, approved the sum of $1 billion as loan to the Nigerian government.

The loan provided at 1.2 percent interest rate is meant to address the deficits in 2016 budget.

Dr Akinwunmi Adesina, revealed this after a meeting with Professor Yemi Osinbajo, the country’s vice president and other members of the Economic Management Team (EMT) in Abuja. “African Development Bank (AfDB), we have a very strong delegation team to meet Vice President and the economic management team.

“The bank’s largest shareholder is Nigeria. It is very important for me to be here and to talk to the Nigerian government about the challenges and opportunities that are in Nigeria.

“I think the times are difficult and there is no doubt about that. But I want to commend the government for being bold in taking the right decisions.

“I think that the fact that the price of crude oil has gone down, is a big challenge because you have 98 per cent external forex revenue coming from the sector.

“So it has created calibrations, I’m not going to go into the details of all the problems but what is important is what we are going to do about it. “I’m not here to lecture the Nigerian government. I’m here to support very strongly.

“We have said that we are going to support the Nigerian government with the budget support to be able to deal with some of fiscal imbalance that they have.

“We are looking to consider for an award of $1 billion to help to deal with that particular deficit,” the Nation quoted him as saying after the meeting. Earlier, the News Agency of Nigeria had quoted finance minister Kemi Adeosun as announcing that Nigeria wanted a loan from the AfDB.

“We are talking with AfDB for a $1 billion budget deficits finance support,” Adeosun reportedly said. The country has been facing recession and there is belief that the loan would help to meet the current challenges before the government.

Shock As Fayose, Others Endorse Buhari, Blow Hot With Powerful Statement
Post Nigeria - Governors of the 36 States have endorsed proposals of the Federal Government Economic Management Team, EMT, under President Muhammadu Buhari, to tackle the economic recession.

The Governors, at the meeting of the National Economic Council, NEC, on Thursday, September 22, in Abuja, also gave backing to the Minister of Budget and National Planning, Udoma Udo Udoma, and his Ministry of Finance counterpart, Kemi Adeosun, for their policies, which they said are tailored to revive the economy.

The NEC, is the highest economic decision making body, chaired by the Vice-President, Yemi Osinbajo. Other members are Governors, and key Ministers in charge of the economy, and also the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, Governor, Godwin Emefiele.

RECESSION: Buhari Heeds Sanusi's Advice; 'Dumps' VP Osinbajo-Led Economic Team, Summon Economic Experts To Lagos
Following candid advice offered by the Emir of Kano, Muhammad Sanusi II, President Muhammadu Buhari may have looked beyond the National Economic Team led by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo and has summoned experts and analysts to an “economic war room” to save the economy from prevailing challenges.

Mr. Sanusi gave the advice on Wednesday during the traditional Sallah Durbar (Hawan Nasarawa) at the Government House, Kano.‎

As reported by TheCable, major economists were billed to  converge on Intercontinental Hotel, Lagos, on Thursday morning, to have a policy dialogue on the current foreign exchange regime.

The dialogue, which was to be hosted by British High Commission and the Nigerian Economic Summit Group (NESG), was cancelled at the last minute.

According to one of the organisers, the panelists for  the dialogue, were summoned by the president to an “economic war room for saving the economy”.

The dialogue was to be attended by stakeholders from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), ministry of trade, ministry of finance, Bank of Industry (BoI), SMEDAN and Nigerian customs, private sector groups like business owners and consumer protection groups.

Earlier, Muhammad Sanusi II, emir of Kano, and Matthew Kukah, Catholic Bishop of Sokoto diocese, called on the government of President Muhammadu Buhari ‎to seek the advice of experts in tackling the current economic crisis, and ‎refrain from giving excuses.

“We didn’t vote a government to complain about yesterday. If we wanted yesterday, the new government would not be there. It is really about taking responsibility. No matter how much you praise or abuse Jonathan, he is not the president of Nigeria,” Kukah had said.

Kukah also urged Buhari to engage constructively with Nigerians on the state of the economy and seek feasible plans out of current economic challenges.

On August 31, the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) confirmed the depth of Nigeria’s economic recession, with Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, asking Nigerians to keep calm as the government was working of saving the economy.

The reports by NBS show millions of Nigerians unemployed and over 20 million unwilling to work. The presidency says it is awaiting the return of the national assembly to execute its borrowing plans.

CBN Counters VP Osinbajo, Says Recession Not 100 metres Race
In contrary to Vice President Yemi Osinbajo that the current Nigeria's recession will not last long, the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, has asked Nigerians to brace up for the current economic recession in the country, saying that it was not a 100 metre race but a marathon.

The Vice-President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, has said the economic recession facing the country will not last until 2020 as predicted by a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Olisa Agbakoba.

Osinbajo, who  said this in Ede, Osun State on Thursday in an interview with journalists after the eighth convocation  of the Redeemer’s University, stated that the recession would end very soon because the administration was focused on measures to revive the economy and make it strong.

He blamed the recession on destruction of oil pipelines which resulted in the reduction of crude oil being sold by the country and the drop in the price of crude oil in the international market.

Osinbajo said, “As far as we are concerned and so far as all of us who are working seriously hard are concerned, the recession must be short-lived.

But The CBN's Acting Director of Corporate Communications, Mr. Isaac Okorafor speaking in Enugu yesterday at the ongoing CBN Fair in Enugu, asked Nigerians to brace up for the current economic recession in the country, saying that it was not a 100 metre race but a marathon.

Okoroafor said that Nigerians must do this by patronising made-in Nigerian goods instead of spending hard currencies in importing items like tooth picks from China or chickens from South Africa. He however, blamed the elites for the problems pointing out that farmers eat what they produced” “We should stop importing chicken when we have them here.

Nigeria should brace up. This is not 100 metre marathon. Let us brace up and change our ways. “The most hit now are people who have refused to realise that we ought to eat what we produce, like the elite. Farmers eat what they produce,” he said.

Okoroafor stressed that the CBN had earmarked N220 billion for micro, small and medium enterprises, MSME, out of which 60 percent was meant for women and women-owned enterprises. According to him, some states have collected as much as between N2billion and N1 billion and registering corporative members in their states in bits.

“Some states elected to pay the interest which is not more than nine percent on behalf of the beneficiaries. That is a lot of guarantee and some are recording huge success.

“We also have the commercial Agricultural Credit Scheme, CACS, for larger commercial farmers. We are for everybody. One of the greatest highlights this time is the youth entrepreneurship programme and that programme is for corps members who are either in service or finished service in the last five years,” he added.

Muslims Who Chants 'Allahu Akba' Before Killing Innocent People Are MAD - Buhari
President Muhammadu Buhari has described those who shout “Allah Akbar", meaning 'God Is Great' is before killing innocent people as mentally deranged.

Speaking through the Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo, at the launch of the revised National Counter Terrorism Strategy, NACTEST, in Abuja, the President said “it is either they do not know the meaning of those words or they are simply deranged.”

The President noted that “these enemies (Boko Haram) are essentially an insane nuisance because they revel in cowardly attacks.”

Explaining that the war against terrorism was unconventional, the President disclosed that his government will change its strategy in a bid to win the war against insurgents.

Buhari said, “There must be an understanding that the war against terrorism is the most unconventional one. They (terrorists) do not respect any rules of engagement; kill the defenseless including prisoners, use children and humans, girls and consider the killing of anyone at all at a victory.

“Therefore as we think through our strategy we must remember that to permanently win the physical battle, we must win the battle of the minds of even the most impressionable young men who sign up to join Boko Haram and other violent extremist groups.

“We must understand that terrorism is essentially a psychological warfare and as such is psychologically sophisticated and we must educate the youth through the leadership of our faith that neither Islam nor any other religion that we know endorses the slaughter of anyone.

“In the past few years our nation faced the threat of terrorism characterized by mindless killing of our people including children.”
