Continuing , Owoola who revealed that this was the second workshop to be carried upon by the same organisation on the same topic, but in a different state in Yorubaland, revealed that , Indigenous radio preserves and promotes indigenous languages, cultures, and traditions.
"Community Radio provides a platform for indigenous voices, stories, and perspectives, amplifying their presence in the media landscape. Indigenous radio empowers indigenous communities, enabling them to take control of their own narratives and representations.
It facilitates cultural exchange, understanding, and reconciliation between indigenous and non-indigenous peoples"

" These are the reasons for getting the selected inhabitants to partake in the workshop"
In his own remarks , one of the participants and key leader at the workshop Adekola Azees enthused that the workshop couldn't have come at a better time than this because it was an avenue to use not just community radio in the dissemination of Indigenous Peoples rights , but to also use other forms of community media in carrying messages home .
" We are happy that this workshop is being done in our community despite its location . We are happy to learn that we can create ideas that can reshape our indigenous ideologies for community media to harp upon .Not only this , you can all see the overwhelming response as people are ready to be the change agents needed in restoring our lost cultural heritage. Yoruba language is sweet to the ears , our foods are medicinal, we reason before we talk , and humility is always the beauty of any Yoruba individual. These are what we can still revive and promote "

Also, unity is a must here irrespective of your ideology so far it's not harmful and misleading . Indigenous People are to be fully recognised in any society they found themselves . Their lands are to be protected , their voices are to be heard and there are policies that can be used for their development.
I am hopeful that this workshop will foster more community engagements, promotes participation and involvement in indigenous knowledge systems and cultural ideologies. As per the community radio, I believe that this workshop will allow people to create ideas that are culturally oriented, cultural friendly and sustainable. Imagine putting on your radio to learn how to revive those indigenous and organic foods about going into extinction ?
"What is Cultural Survival doing to make our culture to survive in spite of the indigenous knowledge systems being neglected ? What can be done for those coming up to cherish the sweat and labours of their forefathers ? ,asked by Zaynab Seriki, a young woman thirsty for the impacts of indigenous peoples ideologies in her environment.
" I grew up knowing the numerical numbers in Yoruba language, our local languages were taught alongside the lingua franca at schools ; but reverse is the case nowadays . I believe this workshop will give the relevant authorities the boost needed in solving this problem. I am ready to focus on school children in creating programs that can help them know the rich African cultural heritage that they are blessed with" .
For Mrs. Kehinde Azees,
indigenous home training has been my passion for many years . Dressing to showcase Yoruba culture , behaving like well trained or someone from a good home with total humility. And , my neighbours can attest to this because I extend it to their children too . With this community radio workshop today , I can easily introduce the script to those working there or create an avenue for any youngsters in this community to freelance"
Orepitan Hakeem ..... who came in to represent the Apena of the town, another key traditional Chief opined that the workshop has given credence to the fact that indigenous people are relevant in the society .The unity in their coexistence is being hammered upon . And that in unity , there will be development.
" Through this workshop now , I have learnt about the need for collaboration and collective action to address the challenges facing indigenous communities '
For Faseyi Tolani, " I came here as a greyhound , I am leaving as a professional . I have just discovered that I can showcase the Yoruba oral poems that I am I am talented with on either the community radio or social media. Through these poems, one brings out the importance of indigenous Knowledge "

Court Strikes Out Electricity Theft Charge Against Property Developer, Osakwe
News Proof 29.11.24 No comments Edit PostBy Dansu Peter
Justice Binta Murtala Nyako of the Federal High Court sitting in Abuja, has struck out the criminal charges filed against a property developer, Mr Cecil Osakwe.
The court struck out the charge following its withdrawal by the office of the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice.
Justice Nyako discharged Osakwe, after the prosecutor, Mamman Alibaba, moved motion for the withdrawal of the criminal charge.
Justice Nyako held, "it is hereby ordered as follows: That as requested by the Office of the Attorney-General of the Federation, the Charge be and it is accordingly struck out.
"That the Defendant is hereby discharged".
The federal government had filed a criminal charge against Osakwe over allegation of electricity theft.
Before the case was struck out by the court, at the last adjourned date, the case was stalled due to some discrepancies in the statement of one of witnesses called by the federal government.
At the resumed trial, the prosecutor, Mr Alibaba Mamman called his witness, Mr John Suleiman who adopted his witness statement and identified some exhibits said to be the numbers of metres that were allegedly tempered with.
The defence counsel, Mr Victor Giwa, however, raised objections to the tendering of the exhibits on the grounds that the prosecutor had not attached such documents to the witness statement of Suleiman that he made available to him.
The trial judge, Justice Binta Nyako agreed that, if such documents were not attached to Suleiman's witness statement, he was not the right person to tender the documents in court.
In view of the following, the prosecutor prayed the court for an adjournment to enable him put his house in order.
Earlier, a prosecution witness, Mr Gabriel Ojo who identified himself as a former staff of the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company, (AEDC) told the court that he had received a complaint from a whistle blower on the alleged theft of electricity at one of the property of the defendant.
Ojo said that he constituted a team who investigated the complaint after which the report was forwarded to the management of the AEDC.
"I believe that the management passed the report to the revenue protection unit but I do not know what happened thereafter," Ojo said.
He also told the court that he could not remember the names of the security guards at the defendants property that his team interacted with in the course of their investigations.
Rivers Crises: US, UK Urged To Withdraw Visa From Governor Fubara, Nigerian Judges For Derailing Democracy
News Proof 28.11.24 No comments Edit PostBy Dansu Peter
The National Democratic Coalition (NDC) has called on democratic nations, including the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, and EU member states, to impose a visa ban on Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State and several judges, including Justice M. Danagogo and Justice Wali.
The NDC made this call during a press conference in Abuja, where they expressed alarm over the erosion of democratic principles and constitutional governance in Rivers State under Governor Fubara's leadership.
In his address, convener Okwa Dan said Governor Fubara has made efforts to weaken the people's will and erode the rule of law, including influencing elections and pressuring the judiciary to support his authoritarian goals.
Dan also accused the governor of activating a "brown envelope mission" to bribe judges in Rivers State.
The NDC condemned the actions of judges like Justice Danagogo and Justice Wali, who have allegedly delivered verdicts that align with political interests rather than upholding the rule of law.
The group described these judges as "Brown Envelope Judges" who have eroded public confidence in the judiciary.
The NDC urged the international community to hold Governor Fubara and his associates accountable for their actions, which they believe undermine Nigeria's democratic future and destabilize the entire country.
"We call on the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, and EU member states to impose a visa ban on Governor Fubara, Oko-Jumbo, and other associates," the NDC said.
"We also call on the international community to hold these individuals responsible for their actions and to support democratic governance in Nigeria."
The NDC commended the lawful halt of federal revenue to Rivers State as an essential step in holding Governor Fubara accountable. They also praised judges like Justice Joyce Abdulmalik, Chief Judge John Tsoho, and Justice Peter Lifu, who have set themselves apart from "brown envelope" manipulations.
The group called for international solidarity and urged civil society organizations, the media, and all well-meaning Nigerians to join them in the fight for democracy.
"This is a call to save democracy from the hands of devourers, and unpatriotic individuals. This is a fight for a just cause; where the law must never be undermined, intimidated, abused, or subdued by any political individual or faction for any reason.
"Additionally, we urge the judiciary to uphold its sacred duty as the custodian of justice. Judges must resist political interference and prioritize the rule of law above all else. The survival of Nigeria’s democracy depends on a judiciary that is impartial, independent, and committed to justice.
"In conclusion, Rivers State stands at a critical juncture. The actions of Governor Fubara and his allies have placed the state’s democratic future in jeopardy. However, with collective action and international support in placing a visa ban on them, we can restore constitutional order and ensure that the voices of the people are heard."
Ihongo Receives Award From NKST For His Significant Contribution To The Growth Of The Church, Donates To Church
Unknown 28.11.24 No comments Edit PostFormer Vandeikya All Progressives Congress (APC) Chairman in Benue State, Alhaji Abubakar Aseer Ihongo, an ardent advisory contributor to the Executive Governor of Benue State, Rev. Fr. Dr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia has been offered an award of appreciation.
The award was offered on Sunday, 24th November, 2024 by NKST Adeiyongo, Vandeikya, Benue State for his enormous contributions to the growth of the church. He also made cash donation for the renovation of the church.
The sermon was delivered by Rev. Pastor Terfa Nyoto of NKST Ager. He preached about Mordecai. He said Mordecai has taught us to maintain hope, remain faithful, and to never allow adversity to define who you are. If that were the case, Mordecai would have bowed down to the earthly power of Haman and renounced his own faith. Instead, he stood strong and never allowed the challenges he faced to define who he was.
Mordecai saved the king's life by reporting a plot to assassinate him. In recognition of Mordecai's actions, the king honoured him by dressing him in a fine linen robe and leading him through the city square.
As a result of this, God richly blessed Mordecai as he strived to remind others of God's provisions for them.
Pastor Nyoto likened Ihongo's situation to that of Mordecai and said the church has presented the award in appreciation of the momentous impact he has made for the growth of the church. The pastor encouraged Ihongo to remain steadfast in his determination to transform lives and God in his infinite mercy and grace will continue to bless him.
Alhaji Ihongo commended the church for recognizing his contributions to the development of the church and promised to be always available anytime he is needed to do more.

Nigerians Didn't Invest Billions Of Dollars In A Blending Plant, Group Challenges NNPCL Over Claims Of Port Harcourt Refinery
News Proof 27.11.24 No comments Edit PostBy Dansu Peter
A civil society group, Concerned Citizens of Nigeria, has challenged the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) over its claims that the Port Harcourt Refinery has commenced operations.
At a press conference on Wednesday in Abuja, the group alleged that the refinery has been converted into a blending plant and that NNPCL is planning to sell imported, substandard petrol to Nigerians as locally refined fuel.
According to a statement signed by its national coordinator, Comrade Mahmud Abdul and five others, the group said the NNPCL's announcement of the refinery's commencement of operations is a ruse designed to deceive Nigerians.
The statement claims that the corporation has been shifting deadlines for the completion of the refinery's repairs, leaving Nigerians to suffer from petrol shortages and high prices.
The Concerned Citizens of Nigeria also alleged that NNPCL's plan to sell blended products will have a negative impact on engine performance and lifespan.
The statement said: "We are worried that NNPCL might have misled the country as it has yet to debunk a report it rather that bought 'Cracked C5 petroleum resins' and blended it with other products like Naphtha to sell to the Nigerian public as its own product.
"We invite you to note that this reported commencement of operations comes after shifts in dates on at least seven different occasions. NNPCL’s past ineptitude and unbridled corruption give us concerns that the so-called commencement of operations of the refinery has the markings of a fluke, a ruse designed to make Nigerians stop questioning the eternal deadlines that the organisation set.
"The Corporation has now made a bad situation worse by stage managing a resumption of production since it has now been established that NNPCL is not trucking out Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), better known as petrol, from its Port Harcourt Refinery.
"Instead, some videos of NNPCL branded trucks that were used to announce that the refinery has resumed operations and started trucking out PMS were mere movie productions to mislead Nigerians.
"The Concerned Citizens of Nigeria are aware that the supposed commencement was first flown as a kite by certain media platforms quoting unnamed sources, which was purely a false flag operation to test the response of Nigerians.
"The formal speech to the media by the Chief Corporate Communications Officer of NNPCL, Femi Soneye announcing the development was only made after the organisation’s top management concluded that there were limited reactions to their flown kite.
"Our analysis of this development advised us of two possibilities. The first is that the refinery would be stressed to run for a few weeks before the NNPCL and its Mele Kyari-led management saddle the country with a bill for further repairs. A failure to succumb to this blackmail will result in the facility again becoming moribund.
"A second possibility is that NNPCL has not repaired or restored the Port Harcourt Refining Company (PHRC) Limited to its heydays. This means that the refinery has been technically downgraded and retooled into a blending plant.
"Recall that Nigerians had warned that NNPCL would turn Port Harcourt Refinery into a blending plant. Such concerns were expressed as recently as two months ago in September when some groups faulted the alleged move to convert the Port Harcourt refinery into a blending plant.
"The feeler from this latest development has confirmed that this is exactly what is happening, as petroleum products imported into Nigeria by Kyari would now be sold to Nigerians as locally refined fuel.
"A true test of whether NNPCL will release petrol from the Port Harcourt Refinery into the market would be the pricing. Mele Kyari’s NNPCL plans to sustain the current price band for petrol since that is the only way they can remain profitable from passing off imported substandard petrol as refined in Port Harcourt. "
The group, therefore, called on the Federal Government to investigate the matter and hold those found culpable to account.
A tribute To Dr.S.M Achema On The 25th Anniversary Of His Passing
Unknown 26.11.24 No comments Edit PostIt was Shakespeare who said, "when beggars die there are no comets seen: The heavens themselves blaze forth the death of princes. The aptness of this Shakespearean saying for me and in connection to the Enigma that this piece is about finds expression and essence in the events that proceeded his death, the veil of gloom and darkness that spread over the Igala nation at the announcement of his death and the never-seen-before burial that marked his final exit. For if the dead were permitted to witness their own funeral and then be able to talk about it, then Dr Steven Makoji Achema would surely be speaking about the size, grandeur and pomp that characterized his burial at the availability of even the slightest opportunity.
I knew Dr Achema as a little boy while growing up in the defunct AADP quarters. It was a triumvirate of Dr. S.M. Achema, Chief John Odawn, the late Engr Yahaya Awodi, Engr Osian Attah Ahiaba and my Dad, the inimitable Damodu Attah. I watched the drama of the movement for the creation of Kogi State and the fallout . Their efforts, the drive, and the zeal with which the late ALAPA, Dr. Steven Makoji Achema galvanized other patriots to fight the cause of the people leaves an imprint of his sense of vision on the tablets of my heart.
Then his foray into partisan politics, first as an elected Chairman of Idah Local Government Council under the zero party platform, to his move to the then Social Democratic Party all come to me as fond memories. The defining moment of my love and admiration peaked with his active and front row participation in the formation of the G-18 that became G-38 and transmuted to the formation of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP. I followed keenly, this time as an adult, his struggle for the Governorship of Kogi State under the platform of the PDP and the treachery of his brothers, who for either lack of foresight, sheer envy, or the unfortunate crab mentality, truncated that ambition. We haven't fully broken free from the consequences of that misbehavior.
He stamped his ideology in my heart with the historical "Ukanukpoda Accord" where unlike the Biblical Esau he refused to sell his birthright for a plate of porridge. In Camaraderie and extreme solidarity, he stood with and by his people to the costernation of even some of his friends, emphasizing the inextricable place of love amongst people of the same heritage and destiny. His journey of love was what sealed his fate culminating in the epic battle that cost him his life.
Dr. Achema was the man that saw the future and did all within his powers to avert the sorry state we find ourselves in as a people in Kogi State and by extension Nigeria.
And this brings me to the part of this tribute where if I had my way, I would like to make certain reports to the late Enigma...
I will like to report to Dr. S.M Achema that all the things he feared will happen to his beloved Igala nation came to pass, all enabled by his Brothers and Sisters.
That while he has been away, Igala brothers fought themselves up to the Supreme Court all in the bid to occupy or displace one another from the Lugard House. The culture of holding the "anukwu meeting" to resolve differences and reach a common, united front before coming to the public seems to have gone with the wind.
That while he has been away, a heresy in the form of political philosophy of 'Enemuneme' was propagated by our own brothers and used to subjugate the Igala nation.
That although, I make these reports from. The place of pain, I am also happy to inform him that the popular Igala refrain of "akpane oñwu ane akpa" came to pass in the lives of all the propagators of the heresy of 'Enemuneme.' They were consumed by the fire that they had stoked for selfish reasons. Today, they are a forgotten people while still alive.
I also want to tell him about an abomination that occured in Ochadamu, where a helpless and defenceless woman was incinerated along with the entirety of her house and all she ever owned because she rejected the heresy of 'Enemuneme.' It is with joy that I report further that all those agents of death have gone to meet with their makers courtesy of the machinations of their master.
However, in all of these, I will like to sadly report to Dr Achema that his beloved Ane'Igala lies desolate figuratively and in real life, depending from what prism desolation is being contemplated. And that the dearth of quality leadership is more pronounced than ever before.
I am glad to tell Dr Achema that we dared to mark the 25th Anniversary of his passing and we succeeded despite all the treachery thrown in our paths by some of our brothers and sisters who are still intimidated by his influence and clout. We do believe that his spirit lives on and that these little efforts of ours will stoke the fire of patriotism among the upcoming generation and that they will rebuild the ruins of the walls of Igala land. His sacrifice was not and will never be in vain.
Adieu the Great One, a giant among men in courage and vision.
I doff my hat for you Alapa Tika Tika!
-Awulu Attah
