Maurice Orwough: A Man With A Heart Of Giving; His Scholarship Scheme In Perspective
Unknown 26.3.24 No comments Edit PostHon. Maurice Orwough is a man who believes in elevating the human race. Concerned by the needs of others, has been using his philanthropy to transform the lives of countless people within and outside his community.
He established his scholarship scheme known as: "Hon. Maurice Orwough Scholarship Scheme 2024" with the aim of uplifting 100 students, 10 from each of the 10 council wards in Guma Local Government Area, Benue State at the pilot stage of the scheme.
Hon. Orwough upholds the ideology of philanthropy by Andrew Carnegie (1835-1919) who came from Scotland to the United States in 1848, and his family settled in Allegheny, Pennsylvania. At age thirteen, Andrew went to work as a bobbin boy in a cotton mill. He then moved rapidly through a succession of jobs with Western Union and the Pennsylvania Railroad. In 1865, he resigned to establish his own business enterprises and eventually organized the Carnegie Steel Company, which launched the steel industry in Pittsburgh. At age sixty-five, he sold the company to J. P. Morgan for $480 million and devoted the rest of his life to his philanthropic activities and writing. During his lifetime, Carnegie gave away over $350 million.
Just like Carnegie, Orwough has made enormous sacrifices to put smiles on the faces of children, youths, women and widows so that they will be able to help themselves to also make impact on their respective communities.
Many persons of wealth have contributed to charity, but Carnegie was perhaps the first to state publicly that the rich have a moral obligation to give away their fortunes. In 1889, he wrote The Gospel of Wealth, in which he asserted that all personal wealth beyond that required to supply the needs of one's family should be regarded as a trust fund to be administered for the benefit of the community.
Even though, Orwough is not as rich as Carnegie was, he takes it as a moral obligation to give away his fortunes as trust fund to be administered for the benefit of Guma community and beyond.
Carnegie's philanthropic interests centered around the goals of education and world peace. One of his lifelong interests was the establishment of free public libraries to make available to everyone a means of self-education. There were only a few public libraries in the world when, in 1881, Carnegie began to promote his idea. He and the Carnegie Corporation subsequently spent over $56 million to build 2,509 libraries throughout the English-speaking world.
Carnegie set about disposing of his fortune through innumerable personal gifts and through the establishment of various trusts. Each of the organizations established by Andrew Carnegie has its own funds and trustees and is independently managed.
Like Carnegie, Hon. Orwough through his scholarship scheme and other acts of his philosophy is a message to others to do the best they can to touch lives no matter how little it might be. What they might see as little in their eyes can go a long way to change lives. He believes that together, we can make our communities better through philanthropy.
Why I Will Never Support Ortom: The Good People Of Benue State Have Not Forgiven Him
Unknown 23.8.23 No comments Edit PostThomas Jefferson, the 3rd President of the United States said: "The fundamental purpose of the United States is laid down in the Preamble to the Constitution: ". . . to form a more perfect Union, establish justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity."
Jefferson would note that the purpose of government was to protect the “inalienable rights” that man received from “their Creator.” In his view, if government became “destructive,” it was the right of the citizens to “alter or abolish” that form of government and replace it with a better one.
When former governor Samuel Ortom was sworn-in on May 29, 2015 as the Executive Governor of Benue State, he promised to transform Benue State into a state that will put grin on the faces of all. But the opposite became the case and he deviated from Thomas Jefferson's philosophy of good governance.
Jefferson philosophy of good governance means that the welfare of the whole should be the proper purpose of the state, but Ortom didn't bother about the welfare of the good people of Benue State and subjected them to perpetual sufferings and excruciating pains for over eight years of his abysmal and amorphous governance.
I was a member of the defunct Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) before its merger to form All Progressives Congress (APC) on 6th February 2013.
APC was formed as a result of a merger of Nigeria's three largest opposition parties – the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC), and the All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP) along with a breakaway faction of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) and the new PDP – a faction of then ruling People's Democratic Party.
I became a member of APC after the merger and continued to support the party. All I wanted was for the party to produce leaders that will transform Nigeria into a country that will make significant impact on all.
Ortom joined APC on December 11, 2013 to achieve his governorship ambition after losing the ticket to a former speaker of the State Assembly Terhemen Tarzoor, alleging that the primary election was forcefully truncated by the powers that be in his former party.
I personally campaigned for Ortom with every fibre of my being hoping that he would use his business experience in Oracle Business Ltd and as a former substantive minister of State for Industry, Trade and Investment and concurrently, former supervising minister for Aviation would reposition Benue State for the common good. Unfortunately, he turned Benue State into a deplorable state.
When Ortom was sworn-in on May 29, 2015, I wrote an open letter to him, appealing to him not to fail the good people of Benue State. When he set the machinery of his government in motion, I said I will analyze his government after one year to know if it will succeed or fail. It was on May 29, 2016 that I gave up on Ortom while he was still in APC.I started writing articles against him, calling him to order because his government was anti-people.
When Ortom knew that he wasn't going to be given the gubernatorial ticket again on the platform of APC, he quickly defected to PDP on July 18, 2018 and blamed Sen. Dr. George Akume for contributing to his bad governance while in APC and assured PDP stakeholders, members and the good people of Benue State that he will do better in PDP.
Unfortunately, Ortom ended up becoming the worse governor Benue State has ever produced since its creation on February 3,1976 by deliberately refusing to clear the backlogs of salaries, pensions and gratuities; by not promoting civil servants; by not creating employment opportunities; by not enhancing infrastructural development and above all, by subjecting civil servants and pensioners to perpetual sufferings and excruciating pains.
Here are some pertinent questions that need pertinent answers from those who hirtheto furiously criticized Ortom and have suddenly embraced him:
(1) If you once criticized Ortom for being a failure by not clearing the backlogs of salaries, pensions and gratuities including others, what has he done differently now that made you to embrace him?
(2) Ortom after subjecting Benue people to perpetual sufferings and excruciating pains has never made any effort to rewrite his wrongs, so what justification do you have for your support for him now?
(3) Forgiveness comes with restitution. For those who have forgiven Ortom for the pains he caused the good people of Benue State, has he returned part of the funds he embezzled or the property of the government and some people he illegally took to the government and them?
(4) Restitution is a sign of true repentance for forgiveness. Has Ortom done this? If not, why should he be forgiven without restitution?
(5) Forgiving Ortom without restitution will encourage bad governance by subsequent governors and leaders in other areas in Benue State because they may feel that no matter how abysmal and amorphous their government or leadership might be, once they seek forgiveness without restitution, they will surely be forgiven. Should this be encouraged?
Even if some people have forgiven Ortom, the good people of Benue State are yet to forgive him until they see his fervent push for restitution and repentance.
Restitution is one of the things that God, through His Word, requires us to do, so that we can have a justified relationship with Him. If someone has stolen or defrauded another or maybe did evil, there is need for restitution for him/her to have a clear conscience.
God tells us to be at peace with everyone to the extent that it depends on us (Romans 12:18). That's hard to do when sin is contaminating a relationship. Making restitution can go a long way toward restoring peace and unity.
For as long as Ortom has not committed himself to the path of restitution, I will never support him regardless of those who have embraced him now. Those supporting him now who hitherto criticized him would be sending a wrong message to their supporters or subordinates.

The National Assembly Service Commission NASC is the administrative arm of the National Assembly charged with appointments, promotions, rewards, and to discipline erring staffs of both at the commission and the Assembly in accordance with it's mandates.
Under the leadership of an astute technocrat, Ahmed Kadi Amshi FNSE along with his commissioners , the commission had instilled a lasting legacies geared towards carrying out it's statutory functions and the mandate in line with the provision of it's act.
Having passed the act through the last constitutional review in the 9th Senate after over two decades of it's existence, the desire to inculcate into the policy framework of the commission became needful, considering the position of the leadership to play the game according to the rules.
Matching words with action, Amshi and his commissioners from the six geopolitical zones built a new commission laced with transparency and accountability both in the procurement process and code of conduct, with a view to producing the expected results.
With the new dawn, he set the ball rolling by prioritizing leadership succession and appointments in line with the civil service rules, as the commission and National Assembly had witnessed smooth and successive transition in leadership against the previous order , which had led to the change of guard that witnessed two successive Clerk to the National Assembly CNA, which included Sani Omolori, Arc Amos Olatunde Ojo and now Sani Magaji Tambuwal trickled down to other categories of staffs along with promotions and retirements.
The commission made a significant reforms in the area of capacity building of staffs, both locally and internationally, through the development of training manual for staffs, so as to contribute their quota to the advancement of the legislative arm of government at the federal level.
The decisions was also extended to the legislative aides to the federal lawmakers to acquaint them of the current trend in their operations.
The current management was alive to it's responsibility through given adequate attention to the welfare packages of the two arms, and by extension the legislative aides , a situation that led to the clearing of all allowances owed members of staff with legislative aides getting attention even after the expiration of their tenure.
The commission was able to resolve the impasse of employment lacuna that was made during the 8th Senate, deploying it's administrative wisdom to absorb all impending issues relating to engagements by the National Assembly.
Aside instilling transparency and accountability, as well as fiscal discipline, the ongoing harvest of projects/ development in the both arm, but all at the National Assembly had not been witnessed before now.
Simultaneously, the multi billion National Assembly Service Commission NASC complex, National Assembly Library and ongoing renovation of the National Assembly complex was a rare development, that had not coincided since the inception of the current democratic dispensation in 1999.
For almost two and half decades, the physical development of the National Assembly complex which had led to influx of different artisans, visitors among many others was evidenced in the quest of the current commission to create an enabling environment, both for the commission in the area of office accommodation, easy access to research and development, as well conducive environment for federal lawmakers in the area of carrying out their functions in all ramifications.
The three various and highly relevant projects embarked upon at this critical time, was in response to the demands to create a technological driven environment, in line with the current order after the global pandemic of COVID.
Providentially, the three significant and crucial projects ongoing at the National Assembly complex when completed and commissioned, will improve the dignity of the environment, and improved service delivery from the two angles of administration, and lawmaking by the federal lawmakers, of both the green and red chambers devoid of any hinderances.
With sustained efforts by the leadership, no doubt, the glory of the Commission and the Assembly will be rejigged with a view to performing it's statutory mandates.
The success story is already evidence on the promise by the contractors for a timely completion of the projects.
With all the needed equipment in place, the staffs will be better positioned to carry out their expected functions with modest improvement.

Natasha Akpoti: The Reno Omokri Nigerians Don't Know; His Genesis, Many Scandals and Secret Love, By Fejiro Oliver
News Proof 22.10.21 No comments Edit Post"He’s in love with the notion of shame and he traffics the shit like a school ground pusher, spreading it around but never personally using” Miriam Toews
Until President Muhammadu came onboard, the name Reno Omokri was unknown in both the social media and political scene. Only few digital savvy persons had an idea of who he was. He was not only politically unknown but also unknown in the social media space, despite being the new media adviser to former President Goodluck Jonathan.
The only incidence those of us who have been active on social media for years remembered him for before Buhari’s coming onboard was his infamous using of a moniker called Wendell Smilin which he stole from his brother-in-law son, to send out a mail to journalists where he lied against the former Central Bank of Nigeria Governor, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi of been a Boko Haram sponsor. This lie of his in 2014 was busted by digital social media activists and Wendell went silent.
As social media aide to Jonathan, he had all the opportunity in the world to market the former President agenda and achievements but he never did. Reno as one of the aides who worked under late Oronto Douglas office, I’m privy to the fact that all he did while in office was to eat, sleep and read bible in public, while dumping it as soon as he gets home, so as to paint the idea of himself being a ‘holy man’ in the public.
I remember vividly that when volunteer social media influencers working for Jonathan tag him on Facebook to even comment or give them factual information to work with, this same Reno who has turned to a social media bulldog today, will tell them that his social media handle is meant for propagating the gospel and not to preach politics. Today, the social media handle that was for Christ then is now dedicated only to attacking the women folk and Buhari’s misguided government.
During the 2015 election heat, this same Reno ran a popular poll on Twitter asking Nigerians who they will vote for. Before his very eyes, Buhari was winning the poll until some PDP social media strategists had to start sending out messages for Jonathan’s supporters to come out to vote for him in the online poll. When Jonathan began to win, May Ubeku, a famous social media user called on Reno to quickly end the poll and declare Goodluck the winner, to tilt the voting pattern on the main election day, but today’s barking Reno refused and before one could say Jack Robinson, the news was everywhere on how Goodluck Jonathan lost an online poll conducted by his own aide.
Perhaps, his conscience has been fighting with him for being one of those who caused the failure of Jonathan by not propagating his achievement well through the exalted office he held and has decided to make amend by naming his daughter ‘Ebele’ after him, in secret atonement for his failures.
Apart from posting against Buhari which many of us have done and still doing, what has been Reno’s contribution to nation building? What is his scorecard as an aide to Jonathan? Where is his impact in his Delta community where he comes from as a presidential aide, even though I agree that he was inconsequential in the government?
With a nation of mostly social media illiterates who believes anything from people like Reno, caused by our general hatred for Buhari, it is easy to see Reno as a hero for ‘fighting’ from United Kingdom not the USA like he mostly claims. His righteousness in being with only one wife is known all over the social media but this will be busted soon.
Unlike Reno Bemigho Omokri, who became known after Buhari won election, Natasha Akpoti came into national consciousness when she began to campaign against the privatization of the Ajaokuta Steel Company Limited, calling for its revival by the Federal Government. On many occasion, she has called out the Indians for killing the steel company and insisted that the Federal Government should run it in partnership with the Russian company, a campaign which was agreed to by the Federal Government and yielding fruit today.
Is it the same Natasha Akpoti who appeared before the House of Reps on 9th March 2018 to address the nation on the true state of the Ajaokuta Steel that Reno claims he has never heard of? Is it the same Natasha who ran for Kogi governorship election and when she was denied ticket in the primary decided to run for senate which held Kogi spellbound that an unknown Reno claimed he has never heard of? Natasha is to Kogi politics what late Mama Taraba is to Taraba politics. We may not like Natasha as common with human nature to dislike what we mostly cannot be, but her honor due to her should be freely given to her.
Those who know Reno can attest that he likes to be involved in the scheme of thing if he is allowed. The Reno we know will not miss any important event like the banquet honor of the former Kenya President, Jomo Kenyatta when Jonathan was President, not with his position as the social media aide.
When Natasha accused him of casually making passes at her during the banquet after Reno called out one of her mentees, who commented jokingly on his post, I believed her. How many men will see Natasha and not flirt harmlessly with her? What is so special about Reno and his supposed flirting with Natasha that he had to his innocent ‘wife’ into social media jokes and comments? Like Reno, Natasha is a lawyer who will not make such allegations if it never happened.
Reno claimed to have left Nigeria 28th April 2014 and returned on 23rd June 2014. For frequent travelers or even a first time traveler, the immigration stamp shown on passport as you leave bears the abbreviation of SOD meaning ‘seen on departure’, while the abbreviation of SOA meaning ‘seen on arrival’ is stamped on the passport on one’s return back to the country.
In the course of scrutinizing Reno’s stamped passport, I realized that his old Wendell Smilin ways was back as he apparently doctored the passport. In Reno’s stamp of 23rd June which he claimed to be his date of arrival, the stamp seen on it is SOD, meaning he departed Nigeria on that date. On the upper stamp of his passport was boldly written 23rd July 2014 with the SOA imprinted, meaning Omokri arrived Nigeria on July and not June like he deceived the public.
What this simply means is that Reno was at the Villa for the reception held for the former Kenya President.
Shall we dig further?
A close look at the stamp shown on Reno’s passport by the USA to prove his acclaimed entry showed that what he had was a parole stamp or a parole visa that’s meant for those on watch list, those not free to stay in the US without being watched closely by the US. What crime could Reno have committed to be monitored by the US? The NIS stamp is the only seal that proves and disproves any claim by Reno and they will not make the silly mistake.
His claim that his lawyers advise him not to post the stamp pages are after thoughts. Reno is a lawyer himself and needs no legal advice to withhold such. Just like he had no aide who googled Natasha to him, so also he has no lawyer who advised him. How a man who is always with his phone will need an aide to google a popular name in the Nigeria political sector tells us the manner of man Reno is, a man who plays mind games with gullible internet users.
He has made an offer of $50,000 to anyone who can get a picture of him during the banquet. Two things the offer is meant to achieve are: people will believe that Reno Omokri is rich and secondly send people on a wild goose chase, a chase which only he can achieve. $50,000 is equivalent of N29.5 million, no thanks to President Buhari clueless policy that has made our Naira useless.
With the many political figures he has duped while claiming to be fighting Buhari’s government, he can conveniently but painfully pay such if any Nigerian is able to get such pictures but he knows it’s not possible. Firstly, the social media in Nigeria wasn’t this strong with enough user presence like we have now, where everyone is now a blogger on the go. Secondly, social media aides are not recognized in the scheme of things during political and diplomatic events for anyone to take pictures of them. It’s like Tolu Ogunlesi who is Buhari’s new media aide telling Nigerians to look for a picture of him during an event in the villa. Of course, Tolu will be there but played no role that will warrant anyone giving him attention. Nobody will go on a Gulder ultimate search for Reno’s picture!
Reno owes Nigeria these two demands: Who owns Dayspring Christian Academy that is constantly paying him money into his GTB account number 52621339**? He should come live on Facebook and Instagram with the same passport showing those stamps and display the entire pages. This is not too much to ask, that we may truly know that Natasha indeed lied against him and his saintly robe remains unstained. Until this is done, Reno Omokri should not make mockery of Christ who said “thou shall not lie”.
As usual, he will throw the political language of being sponsored by the APC and northern Nigerian politicians for his online criticism of Buhari’s government as if he has called out the government than most of us living in Nigeria, facing the hardship, yet not afraid of the security agencies when we call out the government for its ineptitude; while he hides away in Europe behind the keypad, knowing that those are the emotional tools to blackmail Nigerians with.
When men and women of honor talk, Reno Bemigho Omokri aka Wendell Smilin should take his pen and paper to learn from them and not propagate the ‘author of best-selling book’, that is not seen in any library across the world but in his bedroom. I come in peace.
These little things matter.

Chief Femi Fani-kayode has confirmed the viral report of separation with his wife Precious Chikwendu, fresh report according to Punch Newspaper said.
According to Punch, the former Aviation Minister has, however, written a pre-litigation letter to popular blogger, Stella Dimokorkus, demanding N2bn from her for a report he termed libelous.
The blogger had in a report attributed the separation to domestic violence and alleged that the triplet sons may not have been fathered by Fani-Kayode as they were conceived through IVF and Chikwendu had demanded a DNA test.
In a letter signed by his lawyer, Mr. Adeola Adedipe, dated September 16, 2020, the former minister described the report as preposterous.
The letter titled, ‘Defamation of Chief Femi Fani-Kayode- Re: Femi Fani-Kayode and Precious Chikwendu Part Ways Over Alleged Domestic Violence’, stated that the allegations were spurious and maliciously engineered.
The former minister said he was disturbed about the manner in which the report was written which insults the sensibilities of unsuspecting readers.
He denied allegations that he retrieved the car he bought for his estranged wife and had left her broke.
Fani-Kayode said it was saddening that his innocent little children could be dragged into such a report, subjecting them to ridicule.
The letter further read, “Our client is aggrieved and has instructed us to draw your attention to these libelous breaches of his person and family. By this publication, our client has received denigrating phone calls and messages across the globe by virtue of which he now sufferers immeasurable loss of goodwill.
“However, he is inclined to draw a curtain over the wild and spurious claims if you retract the allegations on the same platform they were published and consequently apologise to him in two other national dailies.

Am not sure Fani-kayode is the father of my Children - wife allegedly opens up
News Proof 17.9.20 No comments Edit PostBy Dansu Peter
Precious Chikwendu, the wife of Chief Femi Fani-kayode has allegedly claimed she doubts the paternity of the four children bore for the former Aviation Minister, her husband.
Several online reports suggest that the former minister's marriage to his beautiful wife, Chikwendu has crashed.
According to SDK, among other reports, the couple parted ways and bid bye to their matrimonial relationship due to unbearable domestic violence.
The Report says Precious has moved out of his husband's house over amonths ago without her four sons as the minister had taken over the kids and put them under the care of a Nanny with strict instructions.
It is said that the former minister retrieved all the gifts he bought for her whilst they were married leaving her broke as her accounts were also seized.
Furthermore, the report disclosed that Precious had allegedly been beaten up many times and lived like a prisoner in her matrimonial home.
It was learned that Precious, who walked away from the matrimony because she could not endure further batching is now demanding for a DNA test of her four kids.
Reports claimed she is said not be sure of the children are actually Fani-kayode's, as the kids were allegedly conceived via IVF. She is said not to be sure where the former minister brought the sperm he dropped for the hospital to use on her to conceive the triplets.
But latest report according to Premium Times says, the paternity doubt and demostic violence about the crashed marriage are not true. The online paper said, an uncle to the estranged wife of the former minister actually confirmed their separation, but debunked domestic violence and doubtful paternity report.
The couple who have now unfollowed each other and pictures of both deleted off their social media accounts, further fuel this speculation.
Fani-Kayode has been married three times.
In a video shared online, both men are seen throwing punches at each other in public. A crowd gathered to watch the fight but the men made no move to stop, not even after they were threatened that their video will be shared on Facebook.
Voices in the background are heard speaking in Yoruba, taunting the men for fighting over a woman.
