SHOCKER: How Fayose, Mimiko, Omisore Plotted My Assassination At Akure PDP Meeting - Senator Kashamu

The senator representing Ogun East Senatorial District in the National Assembly, Senator Buruji Kashamu has revealed how he escaped an assassination plot allegedly hatched by Governors Ayo Fayose and Segun Mimiko as well as former Deputy Governor of Osun State, Otunba Iyiola Omisore.

Senator Kashamu, who made the revelation yesterday while speaking with some of his close associates in Abuja, said the incident that happened at the Alagbaka Government House in Akure, Ondo State where members of the Makanjuola Ogundipe-led South West Zonal Exco and the delegates from Ogun State were beaten up was targeted at him.

The leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the South West had called a meeting for Akure, the Ondo State capital, to deliberate on the national offices zoned to the region ahead of the proposed August 17th National Convention.

The Senator said the game-plan, which was hatched by the trio of Fayose, Mimiko and Omisore, "was for their thugs to beat up my people and prevent them from entering the venue of the meeting. They had thought that once they do that, I would be provoked and would want to forcibly lead my people into the hall. Of course, there would be resistance and then a free-for-all would break out. Their evil agenda was to catch in on the situation and shoot me dead."

According to him, "the trio then got a willing tool in a member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Ladi Adebutu, whom they told to man the gate, with some thugs that he had armed with machetes and cudgels, and prevent the authentic delegates people from entering the venue of the meeting.
"Of course, Ladi carried out the assignment given to him by personally supervising the blockage and beating up of the authentic delegates from the South West Zonal Exco and Ogun State.

"But unknown to him, they meant to implicate him because Fayose and Omisore had mixed 10 bad and arms-bearing boys from Ekiti and Osun states with the crowd who were to shoot me at the slightest provocation.

"The meeting was scheduled to begin 12 noon on that fateful day. So, the plan was that if I got there and tried to force my way in, Ladi and his people should resist. There would be a bedlam. Then, I could be shot in the ensuing commotion."

The lawmaker revealed that if he had been shot and killed as planned by Fayose, Mimiko and Omisore, the story would be that they had yet to get to the venue of the meeting when the incident occurred and that it was an extension of the internal wrangling within the Ogun State chapter of the PDP.

He noted that, "While Fayose was still in Ekiti monitoring events from there, Omisore was waiting in one of the border communities between Osun and Ondo states. He was waiting for the deed to have been done before he would turn back and return home. Mimiko tucked himself somewhere in the inner recesses of the Government House."

Senator Kashamu said about 48 hours to the meeting, Fayose was talking to him as if all was well while at the same stoking the embers of discord in Ladi Adebutu and encouraging him to fight him and his people at the Akure meeting, with a promise to subtly back him (Ladi Adebutu) up.

The lawmaker added that when he got to the Government House in Akure, party leaders and their supporters who had been beaten and shut out of the meeting became charged and urged him to forcibly lead them into the hall of the meeting.

"But I resisted the pressure to do so. I knew that if I did, there could be a clash between my people and the aggressors. So, when I thought of the likely consequences, I persuaded them to leave the Government House in peace. I led them out. That was how what could have been a bloodbath was averted. It was God that saved me and other innocent party leaders and members from being killed over nothing," he said.

Had Jonathan Won, Fathers Would've Been Selling Their Children For Food – APC Replies PDP

The Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Delta state, Jones Erue, has come hard on his Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, counterpart, Kingsley Esiso, for attributing the current economic challenges trailing the country to the APC. He also did not spare the administration of former President, Goodluck Jonathan in his response.

Esiso had told PDP Patriotic Ladies in Asaba yesterday that the APC-led Federal Government has brought untold hardship, stressing that “They came with the mantra of change that former President Goodluck Jonathan was not doing well but the reverse is now the case. We will endure till 2019 to change the change.”

But speaking on Thursday at an APC ward executive meeting convened by a former House of Representative member, Hon Solomon Edoja at Kokori, Delta State, Erue who was represented by the deputy chairman of the party, Cyril Ogodo, averred that it is totally wrong for anyone to make such utterances against the APC.

While accusing the PDP of stealing the treasuries of Delta State and federal government dry, Erue said: “If President Goodluck Jonathan was still in power, fathers would have been selling their children for them to get their daily bread.

“What Esiso should be doing is to ask Governor Ifeanyi Okowa what he did with the N15billion bailout fund received from the federal government since his assumption of office.

“Prior to the 2015 general election, local government workers in the state were owed over 8months salary backlog, was it Buhari too that caused that?

“The PDP stole the country dry and I believe the Delta state PDP chairman is just waking up from his slumber. He needs to go back to bed and wakeup to reality.”

Agbaje Shuns Fayose, Mimiko, S'West PDP Leaders, Picks Chairmanship To Battles godfather, Bode George

Agbaje Shuns Fayose, Mimiko, S'West PDP Leaders, Picks Chairmanship To Battles godfather, Bode George
Mr. Jimi Agbaje has finally picked the national chairmanship form of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party, PDP that will pitch him against his godfather, Chief Olabode George.

The South-West chapter of the PDP yesterday picked Olabode George, as the consensus candidate for the national chairmanship position.

George was adopted at a meeting held at the Government House, Akure, Ondo State.

Those in attendance were Governors Olusegun Mimiko (Ondo), Ayodele Fayose (Ekiti), Mimiko’s deputy, Lasisi Oluboyo, Fayose’s deputy, Dr. Kolapo Olusola, George, Senator Iyiola Omisore, Chief Ebenezer Babatope, Alhaji Yekini Adeojo, Mrs. Olusola Obada, Chief Shuaibu Oyedokun, Chief Dare Adeleke, Hon. Ladi Adebutu, Prof. Tunde Adeniran, Prof. Taoheed Adedoja, Senator Teslim Folarin and others.

Before George’s adoption, the zonal caucus had zoned the chairmanship position to Lagos and Ogun States.

A six-man committee headed by Adeojo was set up to appeal to other aspirants to support George. The committee is expected to submit its report in 48 hours.

Already, Jimi Agbaje (Lagos), Gbenga Daniel (Ogun) and Adedoja (Oyo) had indicated interest in contesting for the chairmanship post at the party’s convention in Port Harcourt.

The meeting also agreed to zone the position of the deputy national publicity secretary to Oyo/Osun and national treasurer to Ondo/Ekiti.

Mimiko and Fayose spoke glowingly of George’s experience, charisma and loyalty to the party.

To the governors, PDP would be better served if George is elected as the national chairman, adding that it will be the first time a Yoruba man will be elected to lead the party since 1998

Lagos State Governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the 2015 election, Mr Jimi Agbaje has promised to restore the party’s winning magic at elections.

Agbaje said this while addressing journalists after he picked the nomination forms for the chairmanship position of the party in Abuja.

His words: “We accept that mistakes were made in the past in the PDP, especially with our internal democracy. So, we have to go back to the position of the founding fathers of our party on internal democracy.

“And that means that we have go back to our constitution. That is very important. We have to be more all inclusive as we have been thus far. It is about bringing people nearer rather than sending them far away from the party. Everybody must feel to be part of this party.

“What I bring to the table is that I am not a member of any faction or any tendencies. I am in a position to talk to everybody, to ensure that if you love the PDP, then it is time to come back to the zone.

“I will appeal to those who feel very strongly to join us because Nigeria cannot make the progress it deserves without a viable opposition and that PDP is going to provide that opposition as an alternative government and in a responsible manner.”

News Punch had earlier published that Jimi Agbaje is being sponsored by some power brokers in the PDPD and would contest against Chief Olabode George, his perceived godfather during the 2015 Lagos State governorship contest

The power brokers in the PDP were said to have picked Agbaje after extensive deliberations in the past weeks.

He was said to have received more vocal approval than several others considered for the job.

The party leaders were said to have mapped out a strategy to ensure that they are not openly seen to be working for Agbaje’s emergence.

Our source said the former governorship candidate will be made to seek the party’s nomination alongside others with all aspirants treated equally.

“But plans are afoot for massive mobilisation of delegates in the six geo-political zones for Agbaje’s candidature at the upcoming convention to ensure his emergence.

“His backers have decided not to persuade other aspirants to step down, in order to avoid recriminations that could ignite fresh crisis in the party,” the source added.

PDP A Dying Party, Can't Rejoin Them Ever - Obasanjo Blows Hot Over Reports, Drop More Bombshells

A former President Olusegun Obasanjo has described the opposition Peoples Democratic Party, PDP a 'dying party' Premium Times has reported. debunking media report of his attendance at the PDP Convention Committee Inauguration at Musa Yar'Adua Centre as untrue.

Obasanjo via a text message according to Premium Times on Saturday morning said the reports were a ploy by their masterminds to score “cheap political gains”.

He also said the reports were manufactured to embarrass or annoy him.

He said he was at the Shehu Musa Yar’Adua Centre as guest of Senator Abdullahi Adamu, the Senate Committee Chairman on Agriculture, when some PDP leaders stormed the venue to great him.

“Chief Obasanjo’s resignation from party politics is final,” the statement said.

The former president wa quoted to have said,
“Those who know me, know that I have publicly announced my quitting partisan politics and those who will believe the purported story will believe anybody who tells him that his or her mother is not a woman.

“If I quit a party when it was alive and seemingly united, how could I go back to a now divided, factionalized party grasping for breath?”
In similar vein, Former President Obasanjo’s office on Saturday's ebvening issued a more detailed statement saying, “The attention of the former President, His Excellency, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo has been brought to the photonews story, which has gone viral on the social media on Friday, August 5, 2016 of his purported being “spotted” at a Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) event at the Shehu Musa Yar’adua Centre, Abuja’,the statement reads.

‎’While ordinarily his first reaction to the news was that those behind it targeted to get him annoyed and embarrassed him, his conclusion was that he has told the world that he has quit partisan politics and that is final. Anybody hoping to drag him back will fail like any man feeding mice to a dead cat’,the statement added.

“To clear the minds of doubting Thomas’s and those behind the orchestrated news in circulation and particularly those who had been calling to ascertain what actually happened at the Shehu Musa Yar’adua centre. On the invitation of the Commodities Association Stakeholders, His Excellency, was invited to the “Zero Hunger Nigeria” event at the Centre’, the statement said.

“He arrived at about 10.00am and immediately moved to the meeting. The meeting commenced but few minutes into the session, his attention was drawn to the presence of some people walking up to where he was seated.

“At closer glance, he recognized them to be politicians and they exchanged pleasantries, saying they came to greet him and they walked out again from the meeting. The former President cracked joke with them calling them “invaders and gate crashers”.

The statement said the programme ended and immediately Mr. Obasanjo and his entourage headed back to Lagos.

He said he was barely hours in Lagos when he started receiving calls from far and near wanting to find out about his presence at a political party programme in Abuja.

The statement added, “The photo news in circulation, which claimed that he was spotted at a political party event is therefore mischievous, as a responsible journalist ought to have gone further to ascertain his actual destination in among the number of venues at the centre and not taking photograph of his alighting from his vehicle to read another meaning. Shocking also to note that the picture was actually taken while on his way out of the Centre after the programme he had attended had finished”.

“This is the height of irresponsible journalism, which the former President is calling for its investigation and sanction on anybody involved in order to serve as deterrent to others who may want to be used either by omission or commission to misinform the public on such sensitive issue.”

REVEALED: Obasanjo's Mission At PDP C'ttee Inauguration Venue, All What Transpired Detailed Here
Contrary to earlier media reports, former President Olusegun Obasanjo was actually not at  the Shehu Musa Yar’Adua center in Abuja to attend a forum of farmers, the same venue for the inauguration of the Peoples Democratic Party's national convention committee, scheduled for August 17 in Porthacourt, Rivers State.

Earlier reports had suggested that, could the former President staging a come back after denouncing his membership prior to 2015 general election over grudges with his successor, former President Goodluck Jonathan.

But fresh report according to the Leadership Newspaper says, the Sen Ahmed Makarfi-led national caretaker committee of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) yesterday opened subtle overtures to former president Olusegun Obasanjo over the current state of affairs of the party.

Makari led his committee members to meet the former president who was attending a forum of farmers at the Shehu Musa Yar’Adua center in Abuja, the same venue for the inauguration of the party’s national convention committee, scheduled for August 17 in Porthacourt, Rivers State.

While preparations for the PDP event which held at the main auditorium of the center was yet to begin, Makarfi mobilized his committee to greet Obasanjo who is a renowned farmer at the farmers meeting.

Although it was not clear whether the meeting was at the instance of Makarfi or Obasanjo, a female staff of the foundation led Makarfi and his committee into the hall were the farmers met.

About six minutes later, the caretaker committee came out of the room and returned to the venue of the inauguration of the zoning committee.

About an hour after the end of the inauguration, Obasanjo came out of the farmers’ meeting and walked briskly into his waiting black Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) which was parked at the entrance to the main building.

While attempts to reach the spokesman of the committee, Prince Dayo Adeyeye, was not successful, another member of the committee who was at the meeting declined to comment on the matter.

Obasanjo, a former president and Board of Trustee chairman of the PDP, had resigned from partaking in the affairs of the party, following his face off with one of his successors and immediate past president, Goodluck Jonathan.

The former president further distanced himself from the PDP when he publicly supervised the tearing of his membership card in the build up to the 2015 presidential election.

While Obasanjo and Jonathan fell out over the later’s second term ambition, the former PDP BoT chairman had also said he would rather tear his card than be in the same party with Sen Buruji Kashamu, who at the time was regarded as the leader of the party in the South West.

Meanwhile, as PDP prepares for its national convention, the party’s Board of Trustees (BoT) has warned that the party is not for sale anymore.

The chairman of the party’s BoT, Sen Walid Jubrin, who spoke during the inauguration of the national convention committee led by the Rivers State governor, Nyesom Wike, also charged delegates to the convention to refuse to be bought over by money bags.

However, chairman of the PDP national caretaker committee, Sen Ahmed Makarfi, said no aspirant has been zoned out of contesting any position in the party, following the rezoning of party offices.

But the BoT chairman who was apparently making reference to influence of power stakeholders in the party, said, “Like the chairman has said we are passing the era of impunity and selfishness. We are going to learn from the past and move forward with fairness and justice.

“It is always go for communities to come together and sit down and agree on a suggestion on how to go forward. The decision of the community and family is what should be and not that of an individual.

“But where such opportunity is given it is very difficult for one to stop any member of the community from participating. It is a suggestion but in most cases it pay everyone to follow the suggestion.

“This party is not for sale. This party must be a party of very conscious people. If it were left to me, I will tell every delegate to reject anybody that come with money.

“We are an honest and upright person. This party will not want somebody that will come and buy his way into office.   The BoT will no longer accept any leadership to be forced on the party.”

While he expressed confidence that the leadership crisis will be resolved before the August 17 national convention, he regretted that over 15 court cases are pending so far.

On his part, Sen Makarfi said, “I recall when we last met here to inaugurate the zoning committee and I mentioned on behalf of the caretaker committee that the convention would be an all-inclusive one and that offices to be contested for would be open to all and sundry, that doesn’t mean people cannot come together to zone offices. If zoning does not favour you and you still think that you have the best chance of winning, the political landscape is there.

“It’s up to you to campaign across the country to get enough delegates to support you. Zoning doesn’t mean you have been excluded, it is meeting of the minds. And it is for every aspirant to assess by himself or herself whether he or she has the capacity to garner more support than. Collection of people that come together to have a common position.

However the cost of expression of interest forms for National Chairman is N1m. For Deputy National Chairman and national secretary it is N500,000, while every other position costs N300,000.

Obasanjo Rejoins PDP? Spotted At PDP Convention Committee Inauguration Venue, See Photo
Ex-president Olusegun Obasanjo has reportedly stormed the Yar’Adua centre venue of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) convention committee inauguration.

Pictures obtained by the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) showed the former PDP strongman waltzing through the crowd to the venue of the convention as observers could not place a reason for the appearance of their former chieftain.

This move by the Ogun high chief is coming barely 18 months after asking that his membership card of the PDP be torn in shreds in the state, and although nobody could give a succinct reason for the ex-president’s appearance, feelers have it that he may be finding his way back to the umbrella-carrying party.

Journalists also tried to know why the former two-term Nigerian president was doing at the opposition party’s convention committee inauguration, but met a brick wall as he refused to grant anyone audience. Share on Facebook Share on Twitter Ex Nigerian president, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo sighted at the Shehu Musa Yar’Adua Centre in Abuja on Friday, August 5.

If reports by the sources around are anything to go by, ex-president Obasanjo may be strategising on how to combine efforts with the PDP to oust President Muhammadu Buhari and his All Progressives Congress, APC-led administration over their inability to ensure a steady economy.

Recently, Obasanjo said there is no need to investigate the allegations and counter-allegations of the 2016 budget padding in the National Assembly. He said this in reaction to the current budget padding accusation and counter accusation between the leadership of the House of Representatives and Abdulmumin Jibrin, the sacked chairman of the House of Reps Appropriation Committee.

The ex-president speaking to state house reporters on Monday, July 25, shortly after meeting behind closed-doors with President Muhammadu Buhari, said the country should rather get men of integrity in the federal parliament.

"Those (governors) who are owing are not efficient. I’m not owing any of my workers” he said

PDP CRISIS: Jonathan SHOCKS Party, Queues Behind Sheriff, 5 Governors Too, What GEJ Told BoT'll Shock You Either

PDP CRISIS: Jonathan SHOCKS Party, Queues Behind Sheriff, 5 Governors Too, What GEJ Told BoT'll Shock You Either
Contrary to the expectation of many on the lingering leadership crisis bedeviling the opposition Peoples Democratic party, PDP, a former President Goodluck Jonathan have reportedly queued behind the Ali Modu Sheriff led faction, urging the party as a matter of urgency find means to reconcile with the former Borno Governor.

Jonathan according to New Telegraph made his stance known on Wednesday night when he met with the BoT members of the Party at his Abuja resident.

Members of the Board of Trustees (BoT) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) were shocked by the outcome of their meeting with former President Goodluck Jonathan on Wednesday night. Select representatives of the board, from the six geo-political zones, led by their chairman, Senator Walid Jibrin, met with the former president to appeal for his intervention in the PDP leadership crisis.

The meeting, which was held at Jonathan’s Abuja residence at highbrow Mataima district, lasted for about one and half hours. There was no official briefing at the end of the meeting. Former PDP Deputy National Chairman, Chief Bode George and former Minister of Education, Professor Tunde Adeniran, who spoke at separate interviews with journalists after the meeting, described the outcome as “warm and encouraging.”

George disclosed that Jonathan “has not only accepted to assist in making peace, but gave his word to be joining us in the process of resolving the crisis, and to also make out time to attend our meetings. “As you know, he is a life time member of BoT, having been a former president. Sometime, when people see the big masquerade, they will be more careful.”

A source at the meeting, however, disclosed that the BoT members got more than what they bargained for. Most of the board members have pledged support to Senator Ahmed Makarfi- led caretaker committee, which they said was a product of the May 21 Port Harcourt National Convention. But the source disclosed that Jonathan directed them to make peace with the Sheriff faction for quick resolution of the crisis.

According to the source, the former president told them that given the evidences available, Sheriff has the upper hand than the Makarfi-led caretaker committee and might continue to rubbish PDPthe party if urgent steps were not taken to reconcile with him.

A member of the BoT, who spoke with New Telegraph on the condition of anonymity, said that the members told Jonathan to return to the party and assume his role as the leader. He said that the former president agreed to return with a promise that he would speak with all the feuding members of the party with a view to finding a solution to the crisis.

Jonathan was also said to have told the BoT members to reach every party to the crisis and try and achieve reconciliation. But he said that anybody that did not accept the offer of reconciliation should be regarded as not being interested in the party. He said: “It is not only about Sheriff.

It is about all members of the party who are angry or have issues with the party. He tasked us to reach everybody in the party that has one grouse or the other and attempt reconciliation.

He also promised that he would reach everybody himself. But he told us that if after all the attempts, anybody that was not interested should be left out of the party.” It was gathered that Jonathan met with Sheriff a day before the BoT meeting, at his Abuja residence. The meeting lasted for three hours.

The former president, at the opening of the BoT meeting, said he had been meeting with some individual members of the party without attracting media attention. The meeting with Sheriff might have offered him detailed information of his grievances.

The source added that what might have emboldened the factional chairman the more despite three court judgements against him, was seemingly sympathy he has been enjoying from some Ali Modu Sheriffleaders of the party. It was learnt that what Jonathan told the BoT members was the same message party leaders got from former Military President, General Ibrahim Babangida, who was also approached to broker a truce with Sheriff.

Makarfi was present at the meeting, which held at Babangida’s Hilltop residence in Minna, Niger State. Sheriff has a long relationship with Babangida. The former president reportedly told the PDP delegation that despite the superiority at the courts, political solution still remains the option.

He directed them to go and reconcile with Sheriff. Sheriff is enjoying the support of Senator Buruji Kashamu who appeared at expanded national caucus meeting convened by Makarfi. Jimoh Ibrahim, who has been nursing governorship ambition in Ondo State, recently joined the camp. And while aspirants seeking to fly the PDP flag in the November 30 Ondo governorship election are trying to forge a consensus candidate, Jimoh Ibrahim, yesterday, picked governorship form from Sheriff. He is one of those funding the Sheriff faction.

With the advice of Jonathan and Babangida, it is most probable that machineries would be put in motion by party stakeholders to interface with Sheriff with a view to resolving the crisis. Before journalists were excused from the meeting, the former president had told the BoT members that he had been receiving regular briefings on the state of affairs of the party since he left office. His words: “Unfortunately we have been challenged, but I don’t think you should be discouraged. Challenges are part of life; even in families, there are challenges.

There are challenges even in the church more than what may be happening at political level. So you should not be discouraged, and I believe, collectively, we can solve it. “This should not be beyond us, but I believe collectively, we can resolve it. Any sincere PDP member should know that PDP is bigger than an individual. And many members have sacrificed their interest for the party,” he observed.

Jonathan regretted the conflicting court orders that have continued to exacerbate the crisis and further called on party members to sheathe their swords for the interest of the party.

The former president noted that even Nigerians need strong opposition party and urged members of the party to unite for quick resolution of the crisis. Jibrin explained that the visit was in recognition of Jonathan’s position as former president, to interact with him and inform him of the state of the party. He informed him that PDP is undergoing a lot of difficulties and challenges, disclosing that there are about 15 court cases seeking to stop the PDP’s national convention. “We have realised that we need reconciliation. So many committees have been set up for reconciliation.

The BoT decided to form a special committee to pursue reconciliation. Some members of the party are concerned. “That is why we appealed to the former president that he be party to the reconciliation,” he said.

The governors had unanimously backed the caretaker committee, which was a product of the May 21 Port Harcourt National Convention. Majority of them also were present at the handover ceremony by former Deputy National Chairman, Prince Uche Secondus last June on behalf of the former National Working Committee (NWC). But after the court judgement two weeks ago, Governors Olusegun Mimiko (Ondo), Emmanuel Udom (Akwa Ibom), Seriake Dickson (Bayelsa), Ibrahim Dankwambo (Gombe) and Darius Ishaku (Taraba) are allegedly having a rethink about their continued support to the caretaker committee. Mimiko, who is the Chairman of the PDP Governors’ Forum reportedly held a meeting with Sheriff.

The meeting lasted three hours, details of which are still sketchy at press time. Dankwambo, who is co-chairman of the zoning committee set up by the committee and Ishaku are two governors from the north, and they come from Sheriff’s North West zone. Governors Nyesom Wike and Ayodele Fayose of Rivers and Ekiti states respectively have maintained their hard stand against the factional chairman. Inuwa Bwala, Special Adviser to Sheriff on Media, confirmed that Sheriff met with Jonathan and some governors, but said he did not know what transpired.

“I know that Sheriff met with Mimiko and some of the governors. I know also that that he met with the former president, but I don’t know what they discussed. I was not at the meeting. That is what I can tell you,” he told Our source
