APC In Disarray As Osinbajo, 21 Governors, Others Boycott Party Meeting ...Okorocha, Bello, Yari Stranded

By The Authority
A crucial meeting called by the All Progressives Congress Governors’ Forum (APC-GF), was shunned by the Acting President Yemi Osinbajo and 21 of the 24 state governors elected on the party’s platform.
The Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha who spoke on the botched meeting blamed the development on the inability of Osinbajo to attend the forum.
The APC National Assembly Caucus, the National Working Committee (NWC) and other stakeholders were also expected at the meeting, but most of them did not show up.
The party leaders were expected to deliberate on the 2017 budget at the parley slated for the Musa Yar’Adua Centre in Abuja.
Before the forum was cancelled, the Deputy Governor of Plateau State, Sonni Tyoden and the Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello, left the venue after waiting for almost an hour.
Okorocha, who is the chairman of the Progressive Governors Forum (PGF), later arrived at the venue in the company of his Zamfara State counterpart, Abdul Aziz Yari .
They left the venue after they were convinced that about 21 governors and majority of the NASS Caucus had boycotted the meeting.
Sources close to the APC Governors’ Forum blamed the cancellation of the meeting on poor planning, regretting that only three of 24 governors, a few members of the National Assembly and federal government representatives showed up for it.
But sources at the APC claimed that the governors and National Assembly members were duly informed of the meeting, just as the APC-NWC were notified on time, arguing that the decision of the stakeholders to shun the meeting was a proof that peace had remained elusive in the party.
Speaking with journalist at the venue, Okorocha, who arrived an hour behind schedule, said the absence of Osibanjo was responsible for the rescheduling of the meeting, insisting that they wanted him to be physically present.
According to him, “We wanted the Acting President to be here in person. This programme coincided with other programmes because there are lots of questions that might come up that require national answers.
“Most of the legislators; the Senate President and Speaker of the House of Representatives are also engage in other programmes.
“Only last Friday, most governors left for their states to come back on Monday, but it was not convenient. The dispatched messages couldn’t get to them, some had come and some did not get the invitation. So, we agreed we should shift it to next week,” Okorocha stated.
In his reaction, House of Representatives Majority Leader, Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, attributed the rescheduling of the meeting to the desire of the conveners to get things right, adding that the agenda contained national issues that must be discussed by the majority of stakeholders

Amidst controversies and tension over President Muhammadu Buhari's health resulted from his continuing medical vacation at the United Kingdom, Muhammadu Sanusi, the Emir of Kano, yesterday visited Acting President Yemi Osinbajo at the Aso Rock Presidential Villa in Abuja.
Sanusi and Osinbajo held closed-door meeting at the Vice President’s Wing of the State House, Daily Trust reports
The emir declined comments when approached by State House correspondents on his mission to the Villa.
He said: “You can just report that I came to the villa.”
Sanusi had last August advised President Muhammadu Buhari’s government to reverse its economic policies in order to avoid former President Goodluck Jonathan’s administration’s pitfall.
Also last December, the emir condemned plans by President Muhammadu Buhari to borrow $29.96 billion, saying it would be difficult for the loan to be granted as Nigeria has five exchange rates.

The Acting President, Yemi Osinbajo has finally broken his silence on the incessant brutal killings of Christians by Fulani herdsmen in Southern Kaduna, highlighting the Federal Government already taken measures aimed at ending the crisis.
The Christians Association of Nigeria, CAN had accused the Vice President of silence, which it described as not golden, following the recent DSS harassment of Apostle Johnson Suleiman.
Speaking during the Biannual Conference of Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria, PFN, in Benin, the Edo State capital, the acting President amid other things said the Federal Government had commenced investigations into the crisis.
According to Osinbajo, “investigations are ongoing; I can’t make any categorical statement.
“The Federal Government has taken steps by first aligning with the state government, and it is working with the police to be the first respondents.
“It is not true to say that Federal Government is silent about the killings: it is not true.
“Troops were sent in after a security council briefing was received from the state and police, after they found themselves not being able to curtail the killings.
“Every Nigerian leader, whether Christian or Muslim, tried to solve the problem of religious crisis and none succeeded.
“In many respect, the failure of our criminal justice system to punish culprits has not helped matters.
“Meanwhile, suicide bombers and those ready to die with their victims keep adding more satanic dimension to the public.
“Why is it that no government has succeeded in
EXCLUSIVE: Buhari Writes Osinbajo From UK To Settle Major Controversy, Tension In The Polity

TheCable - President Muhammadu Buhari has asked Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo to forward the name of Walter Onnoghen, acting chief justice of Nigeria (CJN), to the senate for confirmation.
In a letter seen by TheCable, Buhari said the name should be transmitted to the upper legislative chamber before February 10 when Onnoghen’s tenure in acting capacity would elapse.
“Your Excellency may recall that I sent a letter dated 10th November, 2016, to Honourable Jutice Walter Samuel Nkanu Onnoghen CFR, appointing him as acting chief justice of the Federal Republic of Nigeria,” the letter read.
“His acting appointment is due to lapse on the 10th of February, 2017. I am therefore, authorising you to write to the Distinguished Senate, in conformity with section 231 (1) of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria as amended, requesting for the confirmation of the same Honourable Jutice Walter Samuel Nkanu Onnoghen CFR, as the substantive Chief Justice of the Federation with effect from the date of the senate confirmation.
“Please accept, Mr Acting President, the assurances of my kind regards.”
There have been controversies over the delay in the confirmation of Onnoghen, who is the first individual from the south to attain that height in 30 years.
Ayo Irikefe was the chief justice of Nigeria between 1985 and 1987, and he was succeeded by Mohammed Bello.
The delay in confirming Onnoghen had sparked controversy, with many accusing the president of ethnic bias.
Abubakar Dangiwa Umar, former military governor of Kaduna state, had urged the senate not to confirm any nominee apart from Walter Onnoghen.
Onnoghen had appreciated the interest of Nigerians in the issue, but called for restraint.
“Nigerians should allow President, Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR, a free hand to perform his constitutional duties concerning the appointment of a substantive chief justice of Nigeria,” he had said in a statement issued on his behalf by Awassam Bassey, his media aide.
On Monday, TheCable conducted a poll on whether Osinbjao should forward Onnoghen’s name to the senate.
Majority of the respondents voted in support of the idea.
Buhari is currently on medical vacation in the UK.
VP Osinbajo Under Pressure To Resign For Saraki Report: Presidency Breaks Silence

The Special Adviser to the President on Political Matters, Senator Babafemi Ojudu, on Wednesday said there was no truth in some reports making the round that Acting President Yemi Osinbajo was being compelled by some state governors to resign.
In a statement made available to journalists, Ojudu described the news as a fabrication.
The presidential aide said, “I have read many ridiculous stories saying the Vice-President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, is being held hostage by some governors who are trying to compel him to resign.
“I have equally received several calls regarding this. The story is simply not true. It is a fabrication. Don’t be a purveyor of fake news.
“The Vice-President is behind his desk carrying out his task. The Federal Executive Council, presided over by him, has just ended and he has been busy receiving visitors and holding meetings.”
Meanwhile, the Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki, has called on those linking him as replacement for Osinbajo after the Vice-President must have been forced to resign, to leave him out of the “baseless rumour.”
In a statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mr. Yusuph Olaniyonu, the Senate President said “these troublemakers should refrain from linking Senator Saraki’s name to their evil plot.”
He added, “My attention has been drawn to a speculation on some online media about supposed meeting of some governors who held Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo to ransom and sought for Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki, to take over the Presidency.
“My first initial reaction was to ignore this empty rumour but after being inundated with calls from across the country and abroad, it became necessary for me to make clarifications from our own end.
“It is a good thing that the Presidency had dismissed the speculation and showed that there is no substance to it. However, I feel it should be known that those behind this baseless, empty and unintelligent mischief are those who do not love this country.
“Such suggestions as contained in the speculation can only bring ill-will, disunity and crisis to the country and I therefore advise the sponsors to desist immediately. More importantly, these trouble makers should refrain from linking Senator Saraki’s name to their evil plot.”

Niger Delta Peace Tour: THE UNTOLD; How Delta Monarchs Walk Out On VP Osinbajo, You'll Shocked Why
News Proof 17.1.17 No comments Edit Post
Secret Reporters - The fact-finding mission to Delta State by Nigeria’s Vice President Yemi Osibanjo would have been a total flop if not for the intervention of the host, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, Secret Reporters has learnt.
Osibanjo who is notorious for coming late to events and meetings we can authoritatively report came very late for the meeting, even when there was nothing keeping him back in Abuja.
As soon as he came into Warri through Osubi Airport, they headed straight to Gbaramatu Kingdom, where he paid a visit to the King before proceeding with his mission. He left with the entourage to Warri and also paid courtesy call on the Olu of Itsekiri, where he spent almost all his time before leaving around 5:30pm, our reliable source revealed to us.
As customary with the unwritten Nigeria protocol where a visiting Governor, Deputy Governor, Vice President or President pays courtesy call to the paramount ruler of a place that is visited or hosting the event, Osibanjo clearly refused to visit the King of Uvwie Kingdom, even after visiting the Olu of Itsekiri that has no connection with the event.
The event was billed for Petroleum Training Institute (PTI), which is the Uvwie King domain. The angry Kings who have been seated like House Boys since 11am in the Conference Centre were livid when they saw him walked into the hall without visiting their colleagues.
In anger and with one voice, they walked out on him to the astonishment of everyone present. The Delta State Governor had to run after them to plead with them before they came back to the venue. Okowa apologized profusely before the VP also tendered his apology for such misdemeanor.
The Kings accepted his apologies for the sake of Okowa, whom they claim they have so much love and respect for. Some angry Urhobos described the action of Osibanjo as an insult to the entire Urhobo nation, who has shown his preference to his Ewedu brother being the Olu and the volatile Gbaramatu.
